Nissan Tekton To Miss This Big Feature That Renault Duster Will Get
Nissan is set to make its return to the mid-size SUV segment with the launch of the all-new Tekton on July 9, 2026. However, according to an Autocar report, the upcoming SUV is expected to miss out on one major feature that will be offered on its sibling, the new Renault Duster.
Nissan Tekton To Miss Strong Hybrid From Renault Duster
With high expectations surrounding the Tekton, it has now been reported that the SUV will miss out on one major feature that will remain exclusive to the Renault Duster. The 1.8-litre strong-hybrid powertrain, which is expected to launch this Diwali, is unlikely to be offered with the Tekton.

Japanese car manufacturer Nissan will launch the Tekton SUV in India, which is based on the Renault Duster's CMF-B platform, itself derived from Renault's Global Modular Platform (RGMP). The Tekton is expected to be a more urban-focused premium SUV, unlike the Renault Duster, which has a more rugged and off-road-oriented character.
It is more likely that the new Nissan Tekton will benefit from the platform along with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engines currently available with the Renault Duster. Since it is positioned as an urban-focused SUV, Nissan may choose to limit the lineup to these two turbo-petrol powertrains.

However, we are yet to confirm whether this report is accurate, as more details are expected to be revealed during the launch event of the Nissan Tekton. At the same time, the possibility of the strong-hybrid powertrain being offered on the Tekton at a later stage cannot be completely ruled out. The company could introduce it next year after the Renault Duster completes the initial rollout of its strong hybrid variant.
As far as the Nissan Tekton is concerned, its design is expected to draw inspiration from the Nissan Patrol, one of the brand's most popular and iconic SUVs. In India, Nissan currently sells the Magnite, Gravite, and X-Trail.
The Tekton will become the fourth model in Nissan's India lineup and will be manufactured at the company's Chennai plant. Like the Renault Duster, the India-made Nissan Tekton is also expected to be exported to several international markets.
