Nissan Tekton Rear Design Spied Undisguised Ahead Of 9 July Debut

The Nissan Tekton's rear design has been spied completely undisguised, just days ahead of its official India launch on 9 July thanks to an image posted by Instagram user @bhaiyajigadi. The image shows off the rear end of the upcoming Nissan Tekton and looks similar to several design sketches and teasers released by Nissan India.

The image shared shows another vehicle visible in the background fitted with a camera rig, a setup commonly used while filming automotive television commercials. This points towards the upcoming Nissan Tekton SUV having been photographed during a TVC shoot rather than a routine test run.

Rear Styling Matches Official Teasers

The rear design of the Tekton spid during the TVC shot closely matches the teaser images Nissan has already released. A full-width LED light bar stretches across the tailgate, connecting the tail lamps on either side, with a lighting signature identical to what was previewed in the official teaser campaign. The Nissan logo sits at the centre, while TEKTON lettering is embossed prominently across the lower portion of the tailgate.

The Tekton also gets a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated high-mounted stop lamp, a rear wiper tucked beneath the spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and a chunky silver skid plate built into the rear bumper. Vertical reflectors near the bumper corners add to its rugged stance, with the overall design looking upright and muscular, in line with Nissan's positioning of the Tekton as a proper midsize SUV.

Nissan Tekton Shares Underpinnings With Renault Duster

The Tekton is based on the same platform as the new Renault Duster. Despite sharing underpinnings, Nissan has given the Tekton a completely different exterior design with unique front and rear styling. The cabin is also expected to get Nissan-specific themes and equipment levels.

Powertrain options for the Nissan Tekton are expected to mirror the Duster lineup. The range is likely to start with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol producing around 100 PS and 160 Nm, paired with a manual gearbox. Higher variants are expected to get a 1.3-litre turbo petrol delivering around 163 PS and 280 Nm, offered with both manual and 7-speed DCT options.

Nissan is also expected to introduce a strong hybrid version after the initial launch. The hybrid setup is likely to use a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor, similar to Renault's E-Tech 160 system. Local production of hybrid components through Horse Powertrain could help Nissan price the hybrid competitively while reducing dependence on imported parts.
