Nissan Tekton ARAI-Certified Mileage Revealed - Nearly Identical To Duster
Japanese carmaker Nissan has revealed the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for the Tekton, its all-new midsize SUV that went on sale in India yesterday with prices starting at Rs. 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Nissan Tekton is offered with two turbo-petrol engine options. The Nissan Tekton base engine option is a 1.0-litre turbocharged three cylinder unit, while the more powerful 1.3-litre engine adds another cylinder to the mix.

The Nissan Tekton's entry-level 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine pushed out 100hp and 166Nm of torque, which is paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox that helps send the power to the front wheels . The Tekton 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine returns an ARAI certified mileage of 19.4km/l, the highest for any version of the new SUV.
The other engine option offered by Nissan for the new Tekton is a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that pushes out 163hp and 280Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Nissan Tekton 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine returns a mileage of 17.8km/l when paired with the manual gearbox, while the DCT variant is rated at 18.5km/l.

The Tekton shares its powertrains and platform with the Renault Duster, and the claimed fuel efficiency figures are nearly identical for both SUVs, regardless of the chosen powertrain. While The Duster's 1.0-litre powertrain just about outperforms the Tekton in the mileage department, the Japanese SUV turns the tables on its French stablemate when the larger 1.3-litre powerplant comes into play.
