Ninth-Gen Toyota Hilux India Launch Confirmed For July - What To Expect
The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux is confirmed to launch in India in July 2026, according to an Autocar India report citing dealer sources. The new-gen Toyota Hilux pickup will arrive in India just eight months after its global debut in November 2025.
2026 Toyota Hilux (Gen 9) - All-New Exterior Design

The ninth-gen Hilux debuts a thoroughly reworked look while preserving its rugged pickup identity. Slim high-set LED headlamps are bridged by a black trim piece carrying the Toyota wordmark, above a honeycomb grille flanked by angular air intakes and a muscular lower bumper.
The side profile features clean panelling, 17-inch alloy wheels and squared-off body cladding along the lower body. At the rear, large vertically oriented tail lamps with C-shaped DRL signatures make a bold statement, alongside a prominent Toyota wordmark on the tailgate.

2026 Toyota Hilux (Gen 9) - Redesigned Cabin and Feature Set
The interior marks the sharpest departure from the outgoing model, with a redesigned dashboard housing dual 12.3-inch displays and a new three-spoke steering wheel carrying the Toyota lettermark. Physical controls remain plentiful across the steering wheel, centre console and transmission tunnel.

The feature for the new ninth-gen Hilux set spans terrain and drive modes, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad, powered and ventilated front seats, multi-terrain and 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, ADAS, connected car technology, driver drowsiness detection and over-the-air update support.
2026 Toyota Hilux (Gen 9) - 2.8-Litre Diesel, Possible 48V Mild Hybrid
The ninth-gen Hilux is expected to carry over the current model's 2.8-litre diesel engine, which produces 204hp and 500Nm, paired with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. As with the outgoing version, 4x4 drivetrain will likely be fitted as standard across the range.

Toyota could also introduce the 48V Neo Drive mild hybrid system to the Hilux, following its debut on the Fortuner. The two models share the IMV body-on-frame platform, making a mild hybrid addition for the pickup a plausible prospect.
Globally, Toyota also offers the Hilux EV, powered by a 59.2kWh battery pack and dual motors producing a combined 196hp, with a WLTP range of 240km. It is Toyota's first body-on-frame EV, though an India launch for the electric variant has not been confirmed.
The outgoing Toyota Hilux has been on sale in India for over four years, priced between Rs 28.52 lakh and Rs 36 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the breadth of upgrades on offer, the ninth-gen model is expected to carry a notable premium over these figures at launch. We expect prices to start north of Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Toyota Hilux will square off against the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross in India's pickup truck segment. Its extensive feature additions and redesigned cabin are expected to position it as the more comfort-focused option in the class.
