Next-Gen Toyota Hilux Teased Ahead Of Launch
The next-generation Toyota Hilux has been teased for the first time, ahead of the pickup truck's India launch on July 28, 2026. The teaser video for the upcoming Toyota Hilux reveal exterior design updates while also showing off the Hilux's off-road capability, showing the pickup wading through water and traversing rough terrain.
The upcoming ninth-gen Toyota Hilux will be based on the same body-on-frame IMV platform as the outgoing model. India is expected to continue getting the Japanese pickup truck in its familiar Double Cab configuration.
Toyota Hilux Exterior Design
The teaser video shows the new Toyota Hilux finished in a Sulphur Metallic shade, a colour offered internationally on the range-topping 48V mild-hybrid variant. In some frames, the pickup appears in a bright orange-bronze tone under different lighting.
Up front, blocky 'TOYOTA' lettering sits on a blacked-out band between sleek LED headlamps and DRLs. A sculpted bonnet with distinctive metal stamping adds to the truck's rugged stance.

The new Toyota Hilux sports black alloy wheels, blacked-out ORVMs and door handles, and squared wheel arches feature on the sides, along with trapezoidal trim elements and a boxier bumper design. 'Hilux' lettering in a blacked-out finish appears on the front doors, while roll bars sit behind the main cabin.
At the rear of the new Hilux, large 'TOYOTA' lettering spans the tailgate in a glossy black finish, flanked by C-shaped, vertically oriented LED tail-lamps. A shark-fin antenna sits atop the roof, and the rear bumper gets an integrated step for easier access to the cargo bed.
Toyota Hilux Interior and Features
Toyota is yet to reveal the India-spec cabin, though the international version of the Hilux pickup truck gets a refreshed, squared-off dashboard layout. The leather-wrapped steering wheel carries the blocky 'TOYOTA' branding seen on the exterior.
A dual 12.3-inch screen setup includes a customisable driver's display with four design themes, paired with a dash-mounted unit running Toyota's Smart Connect infotainment system.
The India-spec Hilux is expected to get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a 360-degree surround-view camera system. Plenty of physical switchgear, including those for the HVAC system and 4WD settings, are also likely to be retained.
The new Hilux is equipped with a comprehensive suite of radar-based ADAS features internationally, though it's unclear which of these will be offered on the India-spec model.
Toyota Hilux Engine and Gearbox
Internationally, the new Hilux is offered with diesel, 48V mild-hybrid diesel, petrol and fully electric powertrain options, varying by market and emission norms. The 48V system pairs regenerative braking with a stop-start function for improved fuel efficiency, according to Toyota.
For India, the Hilux is likely to continue with the existing 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 204hp and 420Nm of peak torque which is sent to all four wheels via either a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 6-speed automatic gearbox variant ups the torque figure to 500Nm.
Toyota Hilux Expected Pricing
The outgoing eighth-gen Hilux is currently priced from Rs 28.52 lakh to Rs 36.00 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new-generation model is expected to command a price premium over these figures when it launches on July 28. Upon launch, the new-generation Hilux will continue to rival the Isuzu V-Cross in the lifestyle pickup segment.
