MG Majestor: Top 5 Things That Make It Better Than The Toyota Fortuner
JSW MG Motor India has officially launched its flagship SUV, the MG Majestor, in India. The new SUV replaces the MG Gloster and directly rivals the Toyota Fortuner, which currently dominates the D-segment SUV market in the country.
Top 5 Things That Make MG Majestor Better Than Fortuner
However, the MG Majestor offers several features and technologies that make it a more premium and feature-loaded alternative to the Fortuner. Here are the top five things that make the MG Majestor stand out.
1. Bigger And More Spacious

The Toyota Fortuner is already known for its large size and commanding road presence in the D-segment SUV category. However, the MG Majestor takes things a step further by positioning itself as a D+ segment SUV with even larger dimensions.
The Majestor offers a more massive road presence and a wider cabin experience compared to the Fortuner. This also improves passenger comfort significantly, especially in the third-row seating area where the Majestor provides better legroom and headroom for adults.
2. True Off-Road Capability
The Toyota Fortuner has always been known for its rugged off-road capability and reliable 4x4 system powered by the proven 2.8L diesel engine. The Majestor SUV matches it with a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine producing 215.5 PS and 478 Nm of torque paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
However, MG has taken the off-road package further by introducing a segment-first triple differential locking system in the MG Majestor. This system intelligently distributes power between the front, centre, and rear wheels for better traction across difficult terrain.
Additionally, the SUV also gets M-Crawl mode, which automatically controls throttle and braking inputs during challenging off-road situations. The Majestor also offers an impressive 810 mm water-wading capacity, which is higher than the Fortuner.
3. More Premium And Luxurious Cabin

Compared to the Toyota Fortuner, the MG Majestor offers a more premium and luxury-focused cabin experience. The second-row seats of the SUV additionally offer ventilation and massage functions, making the Majestor feel more like a premium luxury SUV.
The SUV gets 12-way powered front seats with ventilation, memory function, and massage functionality. The 6-seater version also comes with captain seats in the second row, improving comfort and luxury for passengers.
4. More Advanced Safety And Technology

One of the biggest advantages of the MG Majestor is its advanced technology package. Unlike the Toyota Fortuner, the Majestor gets a Level 2 ADAS suite with features such as:
- Adaptive cruise control
- Lane keep assist
- Autonomous emergency braking
- Blind spot warning
- 360-degree surround-view camera
Inside the cabin, the SUV also gets dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and instrumentation along with a premium 12-speaker JBL audio system and a large panoramic sunroof.
5. Aggressive Pricing
The biggest highlight of the MG Majestor is its aggressive pricing strategy. Despite offering a more feature-loaded and luxurious package, the SUV starts at Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end variant is priced at Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
This pricing makes the Majestor a highly compelling alternative for buyers looking for a large premium SUV with advanced technology, luxury features, and serious off-road capability.
