MG Majestor SUV Launch On April 20 – Fortuner Rival With 215 BHP & AWD
JSW MG Motor India is set to launch its new flagship Majestor D+ segment SUV on April 20. Ahead of the launch, the company has opened bookings for the model at ₹41,000. The Majestor will replace the Gloster as the brand's flagship SUV in India.
MG Majestor SUV Launching This April 2026
SAIC-owned MG Motor India operates in partnership with the JSW Group. The brand's current lineup includes models such as the Astor, Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster, and the upcoming Majestor. In the EV space, MG offers popular models like the Comet EV, Windsor EV, and the ZS EV.

D+ Segment SUV
MG is targeting the relatively less competitive D-segment SUV space, which has long been dominated by the Toyota Fortuner. The Ford Endeavour was once its closest rival, but with Ford exiting India, the Fortuner currently faces limited competition.
Earlier, MG attempted to challenge this segment with the Gloster, but it struggled to gain strong traction. With the Majestor, the company aims to make a stronger impact by offering improved off-road capabilities and a powerful twin-turbo diesel engine.

Powertrain and Transmission
This engine produces 215 bhp of power and 478 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV also features an all-wheel-drive system with selectable 2H and 4H modes, multiple terrain modes, and a triple differential lock setup for serious off-road performance.
The Majestor offers a water-wading capacity of 810 mm and is expected to deliver off-road performance comparable to the Fortuner. Being positioned in the D+ segment, it is also slightly larger in size. In addition, it comes equipped with advanced features such as a projector LED setup, premium cabin and interiors, a large infotainment system, JBL sound system, and seamless connectivity options.

On the safety front, the SUV is loaded with features including Level 2 ADAS, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill descent control, and intelligent headlamp control.
Price Expectations
The SUV is expected to be priced around 45 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the Majestor are already underway, with the official launch scheduled for April 20, 2026. It will compete with rivals such as the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, and Jeep Meridian. Meanwhile, MG is offering discounts of up to ₹3.5 lakh on the outgoing Gloster.
