MG Hector Tomahawk EV Spied Undisguised Ahead Of August 26 Launch

JSW MG's upcoming Hector Tomahawk EV has been spotted completely undisguised during a TVC shoot at Magarpatta City in Pune, days ahead of its August 26 launch. The seven-seat MG Hector Tomahawk electric SUV was spotted by Instagram user @punekar__nikhil and it will be the first MG model built on the new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform.

MG had previously teased the Hector Tomahawk EV in stages, revealing only glimpses of its design and confirming the three-row cabin layout. The latest sighting is the clearest look yet at the production-spec exterior, with the front, side and rear-quarter design now visible.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Exterior design spied

The Hector Tomahawk EV gets a clean, upright front end with a closed-off upper section in place of a conventional grille, a prominent MG badge at the centre, and slim horizontal LED DRLs extending outward. The main headlamp units sit vertically at the outer edges of the bumper, above a large lower air intake with horizontal elements and vertical air curtains on the sides. The bonnet carries subtle ridges, and unlike several newer electric SUVs that lean coupe-like or futuristic, the Tomahawk sticks to a conventional, boxy SUV silhouette.

In profile, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV sports a long wheelbase and an extended rear section to accommodate the third row, with a rising window line towards the back and a sizable D-pillar. Chrome door handles, roof rails, large ORVMs and chunky black cladding around the squared-off wheel arches and door sills round off the sides, while the alloy wheels get a dual-tone, geometric design.

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV test mule was finished in a light green shade with a black roof, pillars and lower-body cladding for a dual-tone effect. The rear end wasn't fully visible, but a partial glimpse showed a slim, horizontal tail-lamp signature extending towards the sides, in line with MG's earlier teasers.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Expected Cabin Details & Features

A previous teaser confirmed a beige colour theme for the MG Hector Tomahawk's cabin, though the dashboard itself is yet to be revealed. It's expected to follow a minimalistic layout with a driver's display, an infotainment screen, a two-spoke steering wheel and a centre console with cupholders and storage.

MG hasn't confirmed the final features list, but the Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to come with a powered tailgate, leatherette upholstery, powered and ventilated front seats, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, an 8.8-inch digital driver's display, a 50-watt wireless charger, automatic climate control with second and third-row AC vents, a 360-degree camera system, an electronic parking brake, six airbags and an ADAS suite.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Expected Powertrain & Range

Exact powertrain specifications remain officially under wraps, but the Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to use a 69.2kWh LFP battery pack paired with a front-mounted motor producing around 201hp and 310Nm. The MG Hector Tomahawk EV's claimed range could be in the region of 530km on the CLTC cycle, with a top speed of around 160km/h, though India-spec figures may differ once certified.

MG is yet to formally confirm the production name, though it has trademarked "Hector Tomahawk" in India, and a recent teaser featured a Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk fighter aircraft alongside the SUV. The Hector Tomahawk EV is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it above the regular Hector in MG's lineup.

The MG Hector Tomahawk EV will rival the Mahindra XEV 9S and the Kia Carens Clavis EV in India's growing three-row electric SUV space. A plug-in hybrid version is expected to follow at a later stage, given the ADAPT platform's flexibility to support electric, PHEV, strong-hybrid and range-extender powertrains.
