Mercedes-Benz VLE Electric MPV Revealed With 700km Range & Up To 415hp

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the all-electric VLE luxury MPV. The Mercedes-Benz VLE will sit below the more luxurious VLS in the brand's upcoming electric van range and will be offered in both standard and long-wheelbase versions.

The VLE is the first production model built on Mercedes-Benz's new VAN.EA modular electric van architecture. The platform will underpin future electric MPVs from the brand as it expands its luxury MPV lineup.

The Mercedes-Benz VLE 300 uses a 115kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack paired with a single electric motor producing 276hp. Mercedes claims a WLTP driving range of over 700km on a full charge. The battery operates on an 800-volt electrical architecture that supports high-speed charging. A 15-minute fast-charge can add up to 320km of driving range.

The more powerful Mercedes-Benz VLE 400 variant uses dual electric motors and all-wheel drive. It produces 415hp and accelerates from 0-100kph in 6.5 seconds. Mercedes will also introduce variants with a smaller 80kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery at a later stage. Combustion-engine models based on the related VAN.CA platform are also planned.
