The Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric is one of the most anticipated electric cars to hit the Indian market this year, and its price reveal is just a day away. Set to arrive in two trims - CLA 200 and CLA 250+ - the CLA Electric brings with it a new platform, impressive range figures, and a sharp new design. Here's a complete breakdown of everything you need to know before the launch of the Mercedes-Benz CLA.

Mercedes CLA Electric: Expected Price & Rivals

Mercedes-Benz will offer the CLA Electric in two variants in India. The CLA 200, the Standard Range trim, is expected to be priced at around Rs 55 lakh, while the CLA 250+ Long Range is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 59 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).

The CLA Electric effectively steps in to replace the A-Class sedan, along with the discontinued EQA and EQB electric SUVs in the Indian lineup. When it launches tomorrow in India, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric will go up against the Tesla Model Y, BYD Seal, and Kia EV6, all of which occupy broadly similar price points and positioning in the premium EV segment.

Mercedes CLA Electric: Powertrain

The CLA Electric is the first Mercedes-Benz model to ride on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture, or MMA platform. The top-spec CLA 250+ gets an 85kWh battery pack with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor producing 268hp and 335Nm of torque. The WLTP-rated range stands at 542km for the CLA 200 and 792km for the CLA 250+. India-specific details for the base CLA 200 trim are yet to be confirmed.

Built on an 800V architecture, the CLA Electric supports 240kW DC fast charging. Mercedes-Benz claims that a 20-minute charge session can add up to 320km of range on the CLA 200 and as much as 400km on the CLA 250+.

Mercedes CLA Electric: Design & Features

The CLA Electric follows Mercedes-Benz's latest design language with a sleek, aerodynamic body. Up front, it gets LED headlights with a star-shaped LED DRL at the centre, connected by an LED lightbar across the fascia. The blanked-off grille is dressed with star motifs set against a black backdrop, and the bumper incorporates functional air vents to manage thermal loads from the electric drivetrain.

On the sides, the CLA Electric rides on 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and features flush-type door handles. A black strip runs along the lower body for contrast. Inside, the cabin features a flat dashboard layout with a 10.25-inch driver's display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. While the international CLA 350 gets a third screen for the front passenger, the India-spec model replaces it with a gloss-black panel with tristar elements. The steering wheel is a 3-spoke unit with touch-enabled controls, and the seats are upholstered in leatherette.

The CLA Electric comes equipped with a fixed panoramic glass roof, a wireless phone charger, powered front seats with heating and massage functions, dual-zone climate control with rear vents, a Burmester sound system, and auto park assistance. Seat ventilation, however, is not on offer - that feature is reserved for the higher-spec CLA 350 in international markets.

On the safety front, the car gets six airbags, Level 2+ ADAS, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot assist, tyre pressure monitoring, and an electronic parking brake. It's also worth noting that the CLA Electric was rated as the safest car tested by Euro NCAP in 2025.
