Mercedes-Benz Expands CLA India Line-Up With Entry-Level CLA 200

Mercedes-Benz has expanded the CLA range in India with the introduction of a new entry-level CLA 200 Standard Range variant, positioned below the previously announced CLA 250+. The new Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 variant broadens the appeal of the brand's latest compact luxury sedan by offering a lower entry point into the lineup.

Mercedes-Benz India has not officially announced the final prices for the new CLA variants yet. However, we expect the CLA 200 Standard Range to be price at around ₹55 lakh, while the CLA 250+ Long Range is expected to cost around ₹59 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).

The new CLA Electric forms part of Mercedes-Benz's strategy to strengthen its entry-luxury segment in India. Customers can reserve the new model by paying a ₹1.5 lakh booking amount, with deliveries for the CLA 250+ Long Range scheduled to begin by the end of April 2026, while the CLA 200 Standard Range will reach customers from June 2026.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA 200 sits below the CLA 250+ Long Range, and features a smaller battery pack and slower charging speeds compared to its Long Range sibling. The CLA 200 Standard Range offers a claimed WLTP driving range of 542km on a single charge from its 58kWh battery pack.

This is quite a lot less than the CLA 250+ Long Range variant's 792km range (WLTP) from its larger 85kWh battery pack. Mercedes-Benz says the CLA 200 supports rapid charging, allowing up to 320km of range to be added in around 20 minutes when connected to a compatible fast 200kW DC charger.

The new CLA is based on Mercedes-Benz's latest MMA electric vehicle platform and brings several technology features to the entry-level luxury sedan segment. The car features a modern cabin layout with a large digital interface and connected technology.

Features available on the Mercedes-Benz CLA include powered front seats with memory, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control and a head-up display. The Mercedes CLA also offers advanced driver assistance systems and connected technology through the brand's latest software architecture.

The CLA has historically served as Mercedes-Benz's compact four-door coupe-style sedan, positioned below the C-Class. With the new generation moving to an all-electric platform, the CLA now becomes one of the brand's key entry points into its electric vehicle portfolio. The addition of the CLA 200 Standard Range to the Indian lineup variant allows Mercedes-Benz to broaden the EV's price band and attract buyers looking to enter the brand's electric lineup.
