Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe Revealed - 536bhp, 793km Range

Mercedes-AMG has revealed the GT 53 4-Door Coupe, a new entry-level variant that joins the electric GT 4-Door Coupe line-up. The Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe slots in below the GT 55 and GT 63, both of which were unveiled back in May 2026, and trades some firepower for efficiency in the process.

The GT 55 and GT 63 run three electric motors apiece, but the GT 53 makes do with two, one on each axle for an all-wheel-drive setup. The Power output from the dual-motor setup comes to 536bhp, enough for a 0-100km/h sprint of 3.5 seconds, and top speed is capped at 230km/h unless buyers pay extra for the AMG Driver's Package, which raises the limit to 250km/h.

What the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe lacks in outright power, it makes up for with theatre. AMG has given it a synthesised soundtrack modelled on the discontinued E 53 Coupé's 3.0-litre straight-six, captured using 16 microphones placed inside and outside the car.

One fewer motor for the Mercedes-AMG GT 53 4-Door Coupe also means better efficiency. All three variants of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe share the same 106kWh battery, but with only two motors to feed, the GT 53 is the most efficient of the trio, returning a claimed WLTP range of 793km, ahead of both pricier siblings.

Like its siblings the new GT 53 features Mercedes-AMG's 800-volt electric architecture, which supports DC fast charging speeds up to 600kW as an option and can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 11 minutes.

The GT 53 also features an active rear spoiler that deploys automatically once the car crosses 145km/h, and an optional active rear diffuser adds further downforce. Both can also be triggered manually through the Aero Set-Up menu on the infotainment system.

Step inside and the cabin mirrors the rest of the GT 4-Door Coupe range, with a 14-inch central touchscreen and an 11.6-inch digital instrument cluster. A third screen for the front passenger is available, but it remains a paid option rather than standard fitment.

Mercedes-AMG hasn't confirmed pricing or an on-sale date for global right-hand-drive markets yet. German order books open on 13 August, with prices there starting from €115,430, positioning the GT 53 alongside rivals such as the Porsche Taycan 4S, Lotus Emeya and Audi e-tron GT S.
