Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S, GLS 63 Facelifts Revealed With More Powerful V8 Engine
The facelifted Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S and GLS 63 have been unveiled globally with an updated version of AMG's 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The revised powertrain now develops 627bhp and 850Nm, making both SUVs more powerful than before while also complying with stricter emissions regulations.
The biggest change lies under the bonnet, where AMG has introduced its latest M177 Evo V8 engine. The unit features a flat-plane crankshaft, revised turbochargers and updates to the intake, exhaust and fuel injection systems.

The facelifted SUVs continue to use a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. An integrated starter-generator contributes an additional 23hp and 205Nm during acceleration and low-speed driving.
Total output stands at 627bhp and 850Nm. Mercedes-AMG claims the updated GLE 63 S can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the larger GLS 63 completes the same sprint in 4.1 seconds. The revised engine is said to deliver improved throttle response and a broader spread of performance.
