Mercedes-AMG E 53 Launched At Rs 1.45 Crore

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Performance Edition at Rs 1.45 crore, ex-showroom India. The performance-focused AMG version of the E-Class was globally revealed in 2024.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 Launched: Price & Variants

The new Mercedes-AMG E 53 is offered in two trim levels for the Indian market, Performance Edition and Racing Edition. The Racing Edition sports a premium of Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom) over the base E 53 Performance Edition.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 Launched: Hybrid Powertrain

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 is powered by a 3-litre in-line six turbo-petrol engine which is paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels via the Merc's 4Matic+ AWD system.

The straight-six engine on the E 53 is aided by an electric motor and a battery pack with 21.2kWh of usable capacity. Combined output for the E 53's hybrid powertrain stands at 585hp and 750Nm. The Mercedes-AMG E53 can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 4 seconds and it tops out at 250km/h. The Racing Edition gets the AMG Driver's Package as standard, which raises the E 53's top speed to 280km/h.

Mechanical upgrades over the standard E-Class on the AMG E 53 include an electronic rear limited-slip differential and a high-performance braking system. The German performance sedan also gains air suspension and rear-axle steering.

The E 53's lithium-ion battery supports a 400V architecture and Mercedes claims an electric-only range of 100km on a single charge. The E 53's battery pack takes 20 minutes for a 10-80 percent fast charge when connected to a 60kW DC charger. A full charge takes 2.25 hours when the E 53 is hooked up to a 11kW AC charger.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 Launched: Design & Features

At the front, the Mercedes-AMG E 53 gets an AMG-specific grille with vertical slats and a redesigned bumper with larger air intakes. The front fenders are widened by 11mm compared to the regular E-Class on each side to house the wider front track.

The Mercedes-AMG E 53 sports flush-fitting door handles, AMG-specific side skirts and 20-inch alloy wheels with red brake callipers. At the rear, there's a boot-lid spoiler, a diffuser-equipped bumper and quad round exhaust tips.

Inside, the E 53's cabin gets an AMG-spec steering wheel, door sills and floor mats. The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a 14.4-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other features on the Mercedes-AMG E 53 include a Burmester surround sound system, a head-up display, a wireless phone charger and a fingerprint sensor. The front sports seats get heating, along with ambient lighting with logo projection, automatic climate control and rear door sunblinds. Safety features on the sedan include a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system and a driver monitoring camera.
