Spy Pics: Maruti Suzuki's Upcoming YMC EV Spied Testing - Looks Larger Than The eVitara

A new Maruti Suzuki test mule has been caught on camera for the first time by Youtuber Harsh VLOGS, showing its full rear, side profile, and front fascia in detail. The spied test mule is larger than the eVitara and carries clear SUV proportions, with the absence of an exhaust pipe strongly suggesting electric underpinnings.

The front design borrows from the Victoris ICE SUV - similar LED DRL signature, comparable upper grille layout, though the lower bumper and grille elements take a different direction. Conventional door handles and trapezoidal wheel arch cladding align it visually with the Grand Vitara and eVitara family.

The test mule appears to ride on the same 18-inch alloy wheels as the eVitara, likely shod in 225-section tyres. That points to the Heartect-e/27PL platform, the same architecture underpinning the eVitara, which would be the natural base for the YMC EV.

A rear parcel tray is visible in the spy images, suggesting this particular unit is a 5-seater configuration. The YMC is expected to be offered in both 5-seat and 7-seat layouts.

At the rear, the test mule gets a connected LED tail light strip with a distinct LED signature, horizontal bumper-mounted reflectors, and a shark fin antenna. UV-cut window glass is fitted across all panes, a feature no longer exclusive to Nexa-badged models following the Victoris launch.

A glimpse of the interior is visible, though detail is limited at this stage. The unit seen does not feature a powered tailgate, which the Victoris currently offers as standard.

Maruti Suzuki YMC EV Test Mule Spied - Could This Be Something Else?

The presence of the fuel filler cap on the rear left, though, raises the possibility that this could potentially be the facelifted version of the Grand Vitara, potentially gaining Victoris-spec features such as ADAS, a 10.2-inch infotainment screen, and a TFT instrument cluster.

A PHEV variant is also a slim possibility, given that MG is bringing the Starlight PHEV in the same segment. However, the fuel filler flap could also very well be a charging port, which once again brings us back to the upcoming YMC EV.
