Maruti Suzuki To Hike Prices By Up To Rs 30,000 From August - Third Hike In 2026

Maruti Suzuki, the nation's largest carmaker, has announced a fresh price hike of up to Rs 30,000 across its model range that will go into effect on the 1st of August, marking its third such increase this year.

In a regulatory filing with the stock exchanges, Maruti Suzuki claimed that it had tried to absorb the cost increases through internal efficiency measures and cost-reduction initiatives. It added that the sustained pressure on operating margins made it necessary to pass "a fraction of the cost burden" on to the market.

The exact increase in price will vary depending on the chosen car and the specific variant chosen. Maruti Suzuki cited persistent commodity inflation and rising input costs as the primary drivers, the same reasoning it offered for the price increase it had announced in June.

Maruti Suzuki last raised prices by up to Rs 30,000 nearly two months ago on the 1st of June, a hike it also attributed to elevated inflationary pressures. That round of increases covered models including the e Vitara, Jimny, Baleno, XL6, Ertiga, Swift, Dzire, Invicto and Fronx.

Maruti Suzuki, however, reduced prices of the Victoris around the same time. The Maruti Suzuki Victoris, which is the firm's flagship offering for its Arena sales channel, was the only model in the lineup to get cheaper even as the rest of the range turned costlier in June.

The August price revision follows a broader pattern of hikes across the Indian car industry, most of them aimed at managing raw material volatility. Mahindra, BYD and Tata Motors are among the other manufacturers that have raised prices in recent weeks.
