Maruti Suzuki To Bring Nine Models Including 7 SUVs In Next Three Years

Maruti Suzuki has set a production target of 2.82 million vehicles for FY27, a 22% year-on-year jump, according to a report by Autocar Professional. India's largest carmaker expects to outpace the broader market, which it projects will grow over 10% in the current financial year.

Maruti Suzuki's production ramp-up is backed by a nine-model product offensive over the next three years, with seven being SUVs. According to Autocar Professional, Maruti plans to launch one new SUV every six months as it looks to regain market share in the segment where rivals have made the sharpest gains.

Maruti Suzuki Looking To Reclaim Lost SUV Ground

India's PV market has undergone a structural shift toward SUVs, with several rivals gaining ground at Maruti's expense in recent years. The nine-model push represents the brand's most concerted effort to reclaim share in a rapidly evolving competitive landscape.

In FY26, Maruti produced 2.31 million vehicles, accounting for around 42% of India's total PV output. Production rose nearly 12% over the prior year, with over 1.82 million units dispatched domestically and 443,825 vehicles exported.

Maruti Suzuki FY27 Volume Targets

Despite recent price hikes partially offsetting gains from lower GST rates, Maruti sees sufficient demand headroom in the market. Freshly commissioned capacity is helping the brand maintain low dealer channel stocks while meeting robust retail demand across its portfolio.

For FY27, Maruti targets over one million SUVs alongside close to one million hatchbacks, with MPVs and sedans accounting for the balance. A recent GST reduction on small cars has helped the brand regain 300-400 basis points of monthly market share this financial year.

Maruti Suzuki Model Mix and Upcoming Launches

According to the report, Maruti's production planning for FY27 centres on high-volume nameplates including the Fronx, Baleno, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, Swift, and WagonR. The year will primarily feature facelifts of existing models, with a major all-new product wave expected to begin from FY28 onward.

Maruti's second electric vehicle will be an MPV internally codenamed YMC, developed on the same E-Vitara platform as the e Vitara. The brand will continue its multi-pathway powertrain strategy, offering petrol, flex fuel, hybrid, and fully electric variants.

Maruti Suzuki Looking At Faster Development and Higher Localisation

To shorten development timelines, Maruti Suzuki is deploying AI, machine learning, and simulation-based virtual testing tools. The aim is to reduce the current 48-month development cycle to 36 months, with suppliers concurrently involved in tooling, component design, and validation.

The report claims that Maruti is targeting over 80% localisation to reduce import dependence and support production scale-up. In May 2026, the brand posted its highest-ever monthly sales of over 1.90 lakh units, with exports of around 42,000 units registering a 34.26% year-on-year growth.
