Maruti Suzuki Dzire Crosses 3 Million Sales Milestone
India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has announced that the Dzire compact sedan has crossed the 3 million cumulative sales milestone in India. The announcement was made in New Delhi on March 13, 2026, marking a major achievement for one of the country's highest-volume sedans.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was also the highest-selling passenger vehicle in India in calendar year 2025. The milestone highlights the continued demand for the compact sedan despite the shift in buyer preference toward SUVs.

The Maruti Suzuki Dzire is the only sedan to have achieved the feat of being the best-selling car in India, and this was, in fact, the second time the compact sedan achieved the milestone, with a previous version of the Dzire doing the same in 2018.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was first launched in India in 2008 as the sedan version of the Swift hatchback. The Dzire has remained one of the highest-selling sedans in the country for several years.
The Dzire has been a key contributor to Maruti Suzuki's passenger vehicle sales volumes over the years. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire has led the shrinking sedan segment in India for several years and remains one of the company's most widely sold cars.
Earlier sales milestones for the Maruti Suzuki Dzire include clearing the 1 million units sales mark in 2015 and 2 million units in 2019. The sedan reached the 3 million mark after around 16 years in the Indian market. Other Maruti Suzuki models that have crossed the 3 million production milestone include the Alto, Swift and WagonR.
The fourth-generation Dzire went on sale in India in November 2024. The latest model introduced design and feature updates aimed at strengthening the sedan's positioning in the sub-four-metre segment. The Dzire continues to compete in one of India's most price-sensitive passenger car segments. Key rivals include the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura and Tata Tigor.
