Mahindra XUV 7XO Misses Key Features Despite Its Advanced Tech Package
The Mahindra XUV 7XO is currently the most updated ICE-powered SUV in the brand's lineup. It comes equipped with several class-leading technologies and features, setting a new benchmark in its segment. However, despite having the most advanced tech package, the SUV still misses several features and upgrades when compared to its rivals.
Falls Behind in Practical Features
Although it is the most advanced Mahindra ICE vehicle, the XUV 7XO lacks several practical features offered by competitors. For instance, it does not feature paddle shifters on the automatic variant, unlike some of its rivals. While the automatic gearbox performs smoothly, many driving enthusiasts prefer paddle shifters for greater control at their fingertips.

Features such as a powered tailgate, head-up display (HUD), and camera washer are also missing. In comparison, its primary rival, the Tata Safari, offers all three in its updated version. We hope Mahindra will include these features in the next top-spec variant.
Ergonomics Could Be Better
Mahindra positions the XUV 7XO as a seven-seater SUV by offering class-leading space for front and second-row passengers. However, the third row remains a weak point, as it lacks enough space and is best suited only for children.
Additionally, the AC controls are entirely touch-based, which is not very practical and can distract the driver. The UI on the coast-to-coast screen offers a wide range of functions, but this also makes it more complex and time-consuming to use. Moreover, despite offering second-row ventilation, the SUV is missing a sliding function for the second row, which would have enhanced flexibility.

Not Very Fuel-Efficient
The 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine offered in the XUV 7XO is highly refined and delivers strong performance across driving conditions. However, it is not very fuel-efficient, especially in bumper-to-bumper city traffic.
If the vehicle is driven primarily in urban conditions, opting for the diesel variant would be a better choice, as it offers improved mileage figures and is also more economical for long highway journeys.

No ADAS Tech for Mid Variants
The Mahindra XUV 7XO offers several advanced safety features, including an improved Level 2 ADAS Sense+ system with a 540-degree surround camera. However, these features are limited to the top-spec AX7 variants. Offering ADAS in mid-level variants would have significantly improved value for money and strengthened the SUV's safety.
Technology for Off-Road Use
Mahindra offers an AWD option in the XUV 7XO that is capable of handling varied terrain. Despite including custom drive modes, it lacks dedicated terrain modes such as Mud, Snow, and Sand. The inclusion of multi-terrain modes would have made the SUV more versatile, especially since many competitors already offer such features.
