Mahindra XUV 7XO Scores 5-Star Bharat NCAP Safety Rating
The Mahindra XUV 7XO has scored a five-star Bharat NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection, with 30.76 out of 32 points in the adult test and 44.97 out of 49 in the child assessment.
Testing was carried out in July 2026 on the AX7 diesel seven-seat automatic and the AX7L diesel 4WD seven-seat automatic variants of the XUV 7XO. The rating applies across the range, covering petrol and diesel variants in manual and automatic guises.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO's frontal offset deformable barrier test returned a score of 14.76 out of 16 points. The driver's head, neck, pelvis, thighs and feet were rated good, with chest and tibia protection marked adequate.
Co-driver protection was rated good across every critical region apart from the tibiae, which came in as adequate. The side movable deformable barrier test brought a full 16 out of 16, and the side pole impact returned an OK verdict.
Child occupant protection came to 44.97 out of 49 points, with 23.97 out of 24 in the dynamic tests and a full 12 out of 12 for child restraint installation. The vehicle assessment score of 9 out of 13 cost it four points.
Both the 18-month-old and three-year-old dummies were seated rearward-facing. The Mahindra XUV 7XO scored 7.97 out of 8 for the 18-month-old in the frontal crash and a full 8 out of 8 for the three-year-old, while both took maximum marks of 4 out of 4 in the side crash.
Mahindra XUV 7XO: Safety Equipment
Six airbags are standard across the SUV, along with electronic stability control, traction control, hill-hold and hill-descent assist, ISOFIX anchorages on the outboard rear seats and seat belt reminders for every seating position.
Side head curtain airbags, pedestrian protection, and belt pretensioners with load limiters for the driver and front passenger are also fitted as standard. A driver knee airbag is offered as an option rather than standard equipment, while higher variants add a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
The pre-facelift XUV700 was crash-tested by Global NCAP in 2021, where it took five stars for adult occupant protection and four stars for child occupant protection.
