Mahindra To Invest ₹15,000 Cr Into New Nagpur Plant For NU_IQ Platform & Tractors
Indian automotive giant Mahindra has announced an investment of ₹15,000 crore to establish what will be its largest integrated automobile and tractor manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The new plant will be located in Nagpur and is scheduled to commence production in 2028.
The project forms part of Mahindra's long-term manufacturing expansion and will be developed across 1,500 acres in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. In addition, a 150-acre supplier park will be set up in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to support component sourcing and logistics for the main facility.

Once fully operational, the integrated Mahindra manufacturing complex in Nagpur will have an annual capacity of over 5 lakh passenger vehicles and 1 lakh tractors, making it the company's largest single manufacturing footprint in India. The plant will serve both domestic and export markets.
The automotive section of the facility will support Mahindra's next-generation platforms, including the NU_IQ architecture, and will be capable of producing vehicles across multiple powertrains, including ICE, electric and other future technologies. Manufacturing lines for the new plant are planned with advanced automation and digital production systems.
The tractor manufacturing unit will operate alongside the automotive plant within the same campus, expanding Mahindra's farm equipment production base. The output from this plant is intended to cater to both rising domestic demand and key overseas markets.
Mahindra stated that the Vidarbha location offers strategic advantages through road connectivity via the Samruddhi Expressway, rail links and access to domestic and export corridors. The supplier park at Sambhajinagar will supply components to the new Nagpur facility as well as existing plants at Chakan and Nashik, improving localisation and logistics efficiency.
Separately, Mahindra will also acquire land in the Igatpuri-Nashik region to expand its current product and engine capacities and to support the growth of its advanced technology operations. Mahindra has confirmed that the overall ₹15,000 crore investment will be deployed over 10 years, with over 2,000 acres set to be acquired across three locations in Maharashtra to strengthen its manufacturing network.
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO - Auto and Farm Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, "This facility represents a bold step forward in Mahindra's manufacturing journey. Designed to support our next generation of vehicles and tractors, it brings together scale, flexibility and advanced technology within one integrated footprint. It strengthens our ability to deliver world-class products while staying true to our commitment to 'Make in India for the World.' We are proud to deepen our partnership with the state of Maharashtra through this transformative investment."
