Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift Spied Testing - New Grille & Alloys
A new test mule of the Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift has been spied testing and it previews a revised front fascia for the off-roading community's darling. The new Mahindra Thar 3-door mule was spotted by Instagram user @the_pathfinder777.
The current version of the Mahindra Thar 3-door received a light update along with a few fresh feature updates in October 2025. However, this version of the three-door Thar looks set to get a rather more comprehensive update, at least in terms of its looks.

Upcoming Mahindra Thar 3-door Facelift: Exterior Updates
Earlier test mule sightings of the facelifted Thar 3-door hinted at an all-new grille closely resembling the double-stacked 6-slat unit on the Thar Roxx. This latest mule, however, wears a different 5-slot grille with a small horizontal intrusion on its right side, likely to house a badge.
The reason for the differing grille designs remains unclear, though the Thar 3-door facelift could end up being offered in multiple editions with unique grille treatments. The Thar test mule was also driving with new 5-spoke alloy wheels.

Upcoming Mahindra Thar 3-Door Facelift: Expected Engine & Gearbox Options
Under the hood, the facelifted Thar 3-door is expected to retain the current model's engine lineup. These engines include a 119hp 1.5-litre diesel, a 132hp 2.2-litre diesel and a 152hp 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol. All three engine options are expected to continue with the 6-speed manual gearbox as standard across the range.
The 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol units are also expected to be offered with a 6-speed torque-converter automatic. Both these engines can be had with 4x4, while the 1.5-litre diesel remains limited to 4x2 (RWD) configuration. An electric power steering setup is also tipped to replace the Thar's current hydraulic unit.
We expect the Thar 3-door facelift to command a slight premium over the outgoing model, which is currently priced from Rs 10.32 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom). However, at this time there have been no hints of a definite launch timeline for the facelifted Thar from Mahindra.
