Mahindra’s Latest Teaser Hints New Thar Roxx Variant
Mahindra started the year with the launch of its most advanced ICE vehicle, the XUV 7XO. Now, the brand is gearing up to launch the 2026 Thar Roxx in India. Mahindra has recently shared a teaser of the vehicle, sparking speculation about a new variant and a possible special edition.
Mahindra Teases Upcoming Thar Roxx
The Indian automaker is known for introducing special-edition versions of its most successful models, and the Thar Roxx, being one of them, could receive a fully blacked-out treatment. If the speculations are true, the Thar Roxx special edition is expected to feature an all-black exterior and interior theme.
Another speculation circulating for the past few months is the introduction of a smaller 1.5L diesel engine, which could bring the starting prices down and make the vehicle more accessible to the mass buyers. The 3-door Thar already offers this engine, and it could be shared with the larger 5-door Thar Roxx.
Thar Roxx Powertrains
The current model is offered with a 2.0L mStallion turbo-petrol engine, available only with RWD. It produces 119 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque in the manual variant, while the automatic variant delivers 130 kW and 380 Nm of torque.
The 2.2L mHawk diesel engine is available with both RWD and 4x4 options. It produces 111.9 kW of power and 330 Nm of torque in the RWD version, while the 4x4 variant delivers 128.6 kW and 370 Nm of torque.
Technology & Price
Some of the key highlights of the Mahindra Thar Roxx include a head-turning design, five doors for added convenience, premium leatherette seats, a twin 26.03 cm digital touch screen infotainment system, Skyroof, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, Adrenox connectivity, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and powered front seats with ventilation.
For off-roading, it comes equipped with Crawl Smart control, IntelliTurn, electronic locking differential, and multiple terrain modes. Prices for the Thar Roxx start at ₹12.39 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-end variant is priced at ₹22.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
