Mahindra Scorpio-N-Based Pickup Truck — Global Launch Likely In 2027
Mahindra is expected to introduce a new pickup truck based on the Scorpio-N platform by next year. The company first showcased this global pickup concept in 2023 in South Africa and will be sold in the premium lifestyle pickup segment.
Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Expectations
Mahindra currently offers Bolero-based pickups in India. The company also sells the Scorpio Classic-based pickup in overseas markets such as South Africa. The upcoming Scorpio-N-based model is likely to target a more premium audience with improved features, design, and capability.

The upcoming Scorpio-N-based pickup is expected to be positioned as a more premium offering compared to the existing models, with enhanced features, improved design, and better overall refinement. It will be based on the New Gen Ladder Frame platform.
Engine and Powertrain Expectations
Mahindra has indicated that the new pickup will likely use the familiar 2.2-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4WD configuration. However, there is also a possibility that the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine could be offered at launch.

Interior and Features
The cabin is expected to receive significant upgrades compared to the current Mahindra pickups. With a Scorpio-N facelift already anticipated in the near future, some updated design elements and features from that refresh could carry over to the pickup version.
Mahindra's recent launches, such as the XUV 7XO, have introduced several segment-leading technologies, and some of these features may alsobe available in the upcoming pickup truck.
Market Focus and Global Strategy
India may not be the first market to receive this model, as pickup trucks still has a relatively small market share. Countries like South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand have a stronger demand for lifestyle pickups, making them likely initial markets.
Besides Mahindra, brands such as Toyota and Isuzu already have a strong presence in the Indian pickup segment.

Production and Pricing Outlook
Mahindra's recently announced ₹15,000-crore manufacturing facility in Maharashtra could potentially be the manufacturing facility for these pickups for both domestic sales and exports, including Gulf markets.
If launched in India, the Scorpio-N-based pickup is expected to be priced at a premium, with an estimated starting price of around ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). This could intensify competition in the segment among Mahindra, Toyota, and Isuzu.
