Mahindra To Build Nationwide EV Charging Network With HPCL

Mahindra has signed a strategic partnership with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to set up electric vehicle charging stations across India. This initiative is part of Mahindra's 'Charge iN' program aimed at strengthening EV charging infrastructure in the country.

Mahindra & HP to build Charging Stations

One of India's leading EV manufacturers, Mahindra, is collaborating with HP. Through this collaboration with HPCL, the brand aims to expand its charging infrastructure. Hindustan Petroleum is one of India's leading state-owned oil and gas companies, operating over 24,400 fuel stations and already offering more than 5,400 EV charging points under its HP e-Charge network.

This partnership comes at a time when the Indian government is actively promoting EV adoption. The availability of charging infrastructure at existing fuel stations will make it easier for users to access charging facilities conveniently.

Mahindra's 'Charge iN' network is part of the company's broader vision to build an ultra-fast charging ecosystem. These stations will feature 180 kW dual chargers, designed to provide faster, more reliable, and convenient charging for electric four-wheelers.

Developing a robust EV ecosystem is crucial for accelerating adoption in India, which is now the third-largest automotive market globally. A large portion of vehicles still rely on internal combustion engine (ICE) powertrains, prioritising EV infrastructure development is essential for the transition.

With EV adoption steadily increasing, expanding charging infrastructure will not only support growth but also enhance the overall ownership experience. Recognising this need, Mahindra has taken a strategic step by partnering with Hindustan Petroleum to strengthen the charging network.

Major energy companies like HPCL, Indian Oil, and Bharat Petroleum play a key role in this transition due to their extensive nationwide networks. Similarly, other automotive brands have also partnered with these companies: Maruti Suzuki with Indian Oil, Kia and MG Motor with Bharat Petroleum, and Tata Motors with both BP and HP.

Collaborations with oil companies are essential, as they offer widespread infrastructure and established consumer trust. Mahindra's EV lineup already supports fast charging and offers competitive range figures, ensuring a seamless ownership experience for customers.
