Mahindra Achieves 3 Million Production in Chakan Plant
Indian auto giant Mahindra & Mahindra has crossed the 3 million production milestone at its Chakan facility. The first one million vehicles took 107 months to produce, while the latest one million units were manufactured in just 27 months, which is four times faster than the previous one.

This highlights the sharp rise in demand for Mahindra vehicles over the last two years, including its EVs, which are among the best-selling electric cars in the country. The Chakan manufacturing facility currently produces 19 models and more than 450 variants. This includes internal combustion engine vehicles, electric vehicles, and Mahindra commercial trucks.
It also manufactures vehicles for export to several international markets, including South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, where Mahindra SUVs and pickup trucks have gained significant popularity.
In recent years, demand for Mahindra's ICE and electric vehicles has increased significantly. This growth has been driven by the company's world-class quality, wide range of products, premium experience, and passenger-focused convenience features.

Mahindra President - Automotive Business, R.Velusamy said ""The rollout of our three-millionth vehicle, the BE 6, from Chakan marks a proud milestone in Mahindra's manufacturing journey. The acceleration from 107 months for our first million vehicles to just 27 months for the latest million reflects the growing trust of our customers and the unwavering commitment of our people, partners, and suppliers."
He added "Chakan combines Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, IoT, 5G connectivity, advanced robotics, digital traceability, and flexible multi-model manufacturing, underpinned by Lean and TPM practices. Together, these capabilities enable us to deliver world-class quality, agility, and scale while advancing responsible manufacturing. As we continue to build world-class products in India for India and the world, Chakan will remain at the heart of our manufacturing excellence."
The surge in demand has prompted Mahindra to ramp up production. In the premium SUV segment, the company holds a significant market share and is now expanding its EV portfolio with its Born Electric lineup, including the BE 06, XEV 9e, and XEV 9s.

To further increase production capacity, Mahindra has invested heavily in modernising its Chakan facility with AI, 5G connectivity, over 1,500 advanced robots, 98% automation in the body shop, 100% renewable energy for EV manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 manufacturing technologies, significantly enhancing overall production efficiency.
These investments have contributed to the company's faster production capabilities and timely vehicle deliveries. Mahindra has also recorded strong growth this year compared to last year, supported by the increasing demand for its ICE and electric vehicle lineup.
