Mahindra BE 06 Batman Edition Controversy – Buyback Announced For Original Owners
Mahindra has announced a buyback option for the first 999 BE 6 Batman Edition customers. This move comes after growing dissatisfaction among early buyers, as the brand reintroduced the special edition despite initially marketing it as an exclusive, limited-run model.
One of India's leading EV manufacturers, Mahindra, currently offers electric SUVs such as the XUV 3XO EV, BE 6, XEV 9e, and the larger XEV 9s. Among these, the BE 6 has emerged as one of the most popular choices among Indian customers.
Mahindra BE 06 Batman Edition Announcement
Last year, Mahindra collaborated with Warner Bros to introduce the iconic comic character 'The Batman' through the BE 6 Batman Edition. It was positioned as a collector's edition, with only 999 units planned and sold at a premium price point.
However, with the recent reintroduction of the Batman Edition, several existing owners have expressed frustration and demanded clarity from the brand. In response, Mahindra has now announced a buyback option for the original buyers.
The company released an official statement saying, "Thank you for being amongst the original group of BE 6 Batman Edition owners. You will always remain the founding members of this story, and we truly value your early belief and passion. The recently introduced BE 6 Batman Edition saw an extraordinary response, with all 999 units being booked within minutes. This reflects the continued enthusiasm for the Batman Edition.
As communicated earlier in our press release dated 21 August 2025, the collaboration envisaged the possibility of bringing more editions of this partnership in 2026. Following the recent introduction, we have noted that some of the founding owners were not happy about this being brought back.
In view of this, we would like to offer an option to the founding owners to avail a full buyback of their vehicle. Please connect with your dealer for further details regarding the terms and conditions of this offer. This option will be available for a period of 30 days from the date of this communication.
This option is being extended specifically for the 999 founding owners of the BE 6 Batman Edition, in the context of this unique programme. We remain committed to our relationship with you and thank you once again for being part of this journey. Team Mahindra."
The Batman Edition features exclusive decals inspired by Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy and is equipped with a 79 kWh battery pack. This special edition is priced from ₹28.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Additionally, Mahindra has also introduced another special edition inspired by its Formula E race car, which was recently delivered to actor and racer Ajith Kumar.
