Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition Second Batch Deliveries Begin - No More Units After This

Indian SUV specialist Mahindra has commenced deliveries of the second batch of the BE 6 Batman Edition in India. Mahindra has confirmed that this will be the last production run of the special Batman edition electric SUV.

With 999 units manufactured in each batch, the total production of the Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition stands at 1,998 units across both lots. The announcement that this is the last of the Batman Edition of the BE 6 is significant as it comes in the wake of a public controversy that erupted after first-batch owners accused Mahindra of diluting the exclusivity of the model.

Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition Second Batch Deliveries Begin - No Further Batches

Mahindra made the announcement via an official post on Instagram, confirming that deliveries of the BE 6 Batman Edition second batch have now begun. Alongside the delivery update, the company also addressed the ongoing discontent among first-batch owners by publicly stating that the second batch represents the final 999 vehicles.

Mahindra described the BE 6 Batman Edition as a "close-knit" community of 1,998 units, and said it is "acknowledging the sentiments of the founding members" with the confirmation that no further production is planned.

What Caused the Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition Controversy?

When Mahindra announced the second batch of 999 units earlier this year, a section of first-batch of 999 owners took to social media to express their displeasure. The core grievance was straightforward - the first batch had been marketed and sold as a strictly limited-run model.

All 999 units of that initial lot were booked in just 135 seconds, a pace that reflected both the hype around the vehicle and buyer confidence in its exclusivity. When a second batch was announced, many first-batch owners felt the limited-edition promise had been broken. They argued that the decision had directly diluted the exclusivity of their vehicles and, by extension, reduced their market value.

Mahindra's BE 6 Batman Edition: Buyback Scheme & Owner Backlash

In an attempt to address the situation, Mahindra introduced a full buyback scheme for first-batch owners. The scheme was valid for 30 days from the date of communication, with customers required to contact their respective dealerships to opt in. Mahindra positioned it as a goodwill gesture intended to preserve long-term customer relationships.

However, the buyback scheme itself triggered a fresh wave of complaints. When owners visited dealerships, they learned that the scheme allegedly only covered a refund of the ex-showroom price of the vehicle. Costs such as RTO and registration charges, insurance premiums, loan foreclosure penalties, accessories, and Paint Protection Films were explicitly excluded.

Owners pointed out that this meant they would still incur significant out-of-pocket losses even if they opted into the buyback. Many described the scheme as a "punishment for trusting the brand" and said they had paid a premium specifically for the limited-edition promise, which they felt had now been broken.

Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition: Design and Pricing

The BE 6 Batman Edition drew strong demand from the outset thanks to its collaboration with Warner Bros, drawing design inspiration from Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Trilogy. The limited-run electric SUV is based on the Mahindra BE 6 Pack 3 variant.

The Batman Edition's exterior features a satin black finish with gloss black accents, Batman logos across the body, Alchemy gold detailing, and 20-inch aero blade wheels. Inside, the cabin is finished in all-black with gold highlights, a numbered Batman plaque, suede and leather upholstery, and Batman emblems throughout.

The first batch of the Mahindra BE 6 Batman Edition was priced at Rs 27.79 lakh (ex-showroom), while the second batch is priced at Rs 28.49 lakh - a difference of Rs 70,000. With Mahindra's confirmation that no further units will be produced, both batches now carry the degree of finality that the first batch was originally sold on.
