Lexus ES 500e Debuts In India – Premium EV Sedan With 580km Range

Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus has launched the all-new ES 500e in India. This marks the brand's first-ever BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) in the country, based on the iconic ES nameplate. Lexus is known for its strong legacy of delivering premium comfort and refined luxury.

Lexus ES 500e Launched in India

With the ES 500e sedan, the brand has now entered the Indian luxury EV segment. This model was first showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The ES badge was originally introduced in 1989 alongside the flagship LS series, and since then, it has gained global recognition for its blend of value, comfort, and luxury. It is sold in over 80 countries and is now transitioning towards full electrification.

Platform and Design

The sedan is built on the TNGA -K platform and features a new spindle body design with a strong stance and balanced proportions, improving the ease of entry and exit. At the front, it gets twin L-signature LED lamps that enhance Lexus' distinctive identity while improving nighttime visibility.

At the rear, the ES 500e features signature L-shaped LED tail lamps, giving it a bold and recognisable look. The car also benefits from a low centre of gravity, which improves aerodynamics and stability. It is offered in colour options such as White Nova, Sonic Titanium, Graphite Black, Sonic Copper, and Sonic Quartz.

Powertrain and Range

The Lexus ES 500e is powered by a 252 kW dual-motor setup that enables it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds. It is equipped with a 74.68 kWh battery pack that delivers a claimed range of up to 580 km on a single charge. With a 150 kW fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 28 minutes.

The vehicle supports both AC and DC fast charging options, ensuring flexibility for daily commutes and long-distance travel. It comes with a 2.8 kW portable charger and an 11 kW home charger. Lexus also offers a 5-year Roadside Assistance (RSA) package, covering services such as towing, taxi support, repatriation, onsite mobile charging, and assistance to the nearest charging station or dealership.

Warranty Program

Additionally, the ES 500e comes with an 8-year/200,000 km warranty for both the vehicle and battery, making it one of the most comprehensive offerings in the luxury EV segment. Lexus also provides an Assured Buy Back Program with low EMI options and a guaranteed residual value. Customers can choose from Lexus Luxury Care service packages available for 3 years/40,000 km, 5 years/60,000 km, or 8 years/90,000 km.

Premium Cabin Experience

On the inside, the cabin features a clean and airy design with a modern, refined feel. For the first time, Lexus has introduced illuminated door trims that sync with the ambient lighting. The car is equipped with a Mark Levinson surround sound system, delivering an immersive 3D audio experience.

The cockpit includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a new-generation 14-inch infotainment system designed for faster response and ease of use. Additional features include remote cabin climate control, seat heating and ventilation, smartphone and smartwatch connectivity, live vehicle tracking, integrated emergency call function, and automatic door closure. The panoramic view monitor now features an advanced 3D view for better situational awareness.

Cutting Edge Safety Technology

Lexus continues to focus on safety, with the TNGA-K platform offering a highly rigid structure that reduces vibrations and enhances steering response and overall ride comfort. The suspension setup includes MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link system at the rear, ensuring a smooth and refined driving experience.

The DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system improves traction and handling stability across different road conditions while enhancing overall efficiency and driving confidence. The ES 500e also comes equipped with advanced Lexus Safety System+ features, including Pre-Collision System (PCS), Auto Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Adaptive High Beam System (AHS), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), and a Driver Monitoring Camera (DMC).

Pricing Details

The all-new ES will be available in both BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) versions. The ES 500e is priced from ₹89.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Its primary rivals include the BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE sedan, and Kia EV6. The hybrid variant is expected to be introduced at a later stage.
