Lamborghini Urus SE Performante Unveiled As The Most Powerful Raging Bull SUV Ever

Lamborghini has unveiled the Urus SE Performante, the most powerful version of its only current SUV offering. The plug-in hybrid Lamborghini Urus SE Performante combines the same twin-turbo V8 and electric motor as its non Performante sibling but in a higher state of tune, which makes it the most powerful SUV that Lamborghini has ever let loose from Sant'Agata Bolognese.

Lamborghini Urus SE Performante: Hybrid Powertrain

The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with a permanent-magnet electric motor. Together, they deliver 801bhp at 6,000rpm and 1000Nm of torque available from 2,000-5,500rpm, right from first gear.

This marks an increase of 144bhp and 150Nm over the previous Urus Performante. Power reaches all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission, recalibrated with new software that sharpens throttle response and cuts torque lag.

The added performance boost allows the Lamborghini Urus SE Performante to sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.3 seconds and hits a top speed of 312km/h, despite tipping the scales at 2,473kg. The new Urus SE Performante is one of the final versions of the current-generation Urus, with a fully redesigned model due to arrive in 2029.

A 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery sits beneath the load floor to keep the centre of gravity low. It enables a pure-electric range of over 60km, with EV mode also capable of a top speed beyond 130kmh.

An electronically controlled central clutch works alongside a self-locking rear differential for variable torque distribution. Lamborghini says this setup allows on-demand oversteer, a signature trait of the Raging Bull marque's supercars.

Despite tipping the scales at 2,473kg, the Urus SE Performante is 32kg lighter compared to the standard Urus SE. The extensive use of carbon-fibre across the hood, roof, wheel arches, side skirts and diffuser helps the latest Lamborghini SUV go on its weight saving diet.

Lamborghini Urus SE Performante: Suspension, Brakes & Exhaust

The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante introduces Lamborghini's AURA dual-chamber air suspension to the range, alongside dual-valve adaptive dampers. The AURA system cuts body roll during cornering by 55 percent and reduces comfort-related vibrations by 25 percent over the previous Performante.

A six-degrees-of-freedom sensor, first seen on the Fenomeno hypercar, sits near the Urus SE Performante's centre of gravity to track pitch, roll and yaw. Data from this sensor and eight accelerometers feeds into the IPB system for predictive braking and stability control.

The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante offers five driving modes: Strada, Sport, Corsa, EV and a new Rally mode tuned for loose surfaces. Hybrid and Recharge modes are also selectable in Strada, Sport or Corsa, letting the battery top up to 80 percent while driving.

A titanium exhaust developed with Akrapovic comes as standard, cutting 10kg from the car's weight. Removing the cross-connection between the cylinder banks gives the two exhaust lines independent airflow, resulting in a distinct dual note soundtrack for the new Urus SE Performante.

Lamborghini Urus SE Performante: Exterior Design

The design of the Urus SE Performante leans on wider use of exposed carbon fibre, including a new hood with a central power dome and S-Duct air outlets for cooling. Larger front air intakes improve airflow to the radiators while adding visual width.

At the rear, a taller carbon-fibre spoiler pairs with an aviation-inspired wing and the largest diffuser fitted to an Urus so far. Hexagonal design cues inspired by the Countach feature on the rear surfaces, while new 23-inch wheels use an intersecting Y-spoke pattern.

Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said, "Forty years ago, Lamborghini created the concept of the Super SUV with the legendary LM002. In 2012, we remained faithful to our spirit of innovation by unveiling the Urus concept, once again redefining the boundaries of the segment. Today, with Urus SE Performante, we are taking the concept of the Super SUV to its peak.

This model represents the highest level of performance, driving precision and emotional engagement ever achieved by Urus, while preserving the versatility and everyday usability that have established it as a benchmark in its segment. Urus SE Performante is the result of Lamborghini's relentless approach to innovation and performance, combining state-of-the-art hybrid technology, advanced vehicle dynamics and a design language that conveys its character at first sight. It is the ultimate expression of the Super SUV."

The Lamborghini Urus SE Performante rivals the Ferrari Purosangue, Aston Martin DBX and Bentley Bentayga in the performance SUV segment.
