Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Is The Fastest Lego Car Of All Time

Lego has unveiled the Technic Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear Megacar, the sixth model in its Ultimate Car Concept Series. The 1:8-scale set recreates the 1,603bhp hypercar with 4,104 pieces and follows previous entries built around the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Bugatti Chiron, Lamborghini Sian, Ferrari Daytona SP3 and McLaren P1.

The set was developed with input from Koenigsegg's own engineers and packs an authentic V8 piston engine, a functional nine-speed transmission, and a Triplex front and rear suspension setup. A new rotating gear indicator disc shows which gear the model is currently in, while working steering and a removable roof add further interactive detail.

The standout feature is a working 'Ghost Mode' function. A single movement raises the rear engine clam, rotates the dihedral synchro-helix doors and front hood, and folds the mirrors, mirroring how the real Sadair's Spear operates. Lego says the Triplex suspension, nine-speed gearbox and Ghost Mode function are all firsts for a Technic Ultimate model.

Kasper Rene Hansen, Senior Model Designer at the LEGO Group, said: "Our ambition was to create the most advanced LEGO Technic build we've ever produced. Incorporating features such as a working Ghost Mode, a 9-speed sequential gearbox and the unique Triplex suspension system -all firsts for a Technic Ultimate model - pushed the boundaries of what's possible. We hope this set captures the spirit and technical sophistication of the Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear, while delivering a rewarding experience for builders. This set really embodies the philosophy of LEGO Technic - Build For Real!"

Lego Koenigsegg Sadair's Spear: Goodwood Speed Record

To mark the launch, Lego and Koenigsegg built a life-size, drivable version of the Sadair's Spear from 327,906 elements, weighing around 1,800kg, of which 400kg is Lego material. The build took more than 9,400 hours to construct. Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh drove it up the Goodwood hill climb in reverse, hitting 111kph and setting a new speed record for a drivable Lego car, more than double the previous record of 50kph.

Christian von Koenigsegg, CEO of Koenigsegg, said the partnership demonstrates how a shared passion for engineering and creativity can produce something extraordinary, while Lundh said the life-size build felt like handling a genuine Koenigsegg.
