Kia Unveils EV2 Globally: Brand's Smallest Electric Car With Up To 448 km Range
South Korea's Kia Motors has unveiled its smallest-ever electric car, the EV2, in Brussels. First showcased as a concept last year, the EV2 has now been fully developed into a production-ready model that closely resembles the Syros SUV in terms of design. The EV2 could arrive in India as Kia's most affordable electric offering in the future, although the company has not made any official announcement yet.
Kia EV2 Unveils Electric SUV
In the affordable EV space, Kia has positioned the EV2 as a B-segment electric SUV. This compact crossover will serve as the brand's new entry-level electric model and could be ideal for daily city commuting.

The EV2 is built on the same e-GMP platform used by Kia's other electric vehicles, though it is significantly more compact in size. It features a sharp and edgy design inspired by Kia's "Opposites United" philosophy, which characterises bold and sharp design elements.
At the front, the EV2 features vertical LED DRLs, the bonnet, bumper design, and tall-boy stance also resemble those of similar electric SUVs like the EV3 and EV9, with a few minor differences.

Kia offers the EV2 with two battery pack options: a 42.2 kWh battery pack and a 61.0 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery is claimed to deliver a maximum range of up to 317 km, while the larger battery offers a claimed range of 448 km on a single charge.
The EV2 will also support DC fast charging, allowing the battery to recharge in a short duration. Additionally, it will come with a home charger, offering greater convenience for charging the vehicle at home.

Inside, the EV2 features a 12.3-inch digital driver display paired with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, along with an 8-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. There is also a dedicated 5.3-inch display for climate control. Safety features include ADAS functions such as driving assistance, forward collision avoidance, cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and parking assistance.
The Kia EV2 could be a strong product for the Indian market, especially given the recent success of the MG Windsor EV. Kia is already offering its premium EV models in India, and introducing the EV2 would expand its electric vehicle portfolio. It could serve as Kia's entry-level EV in the country and compete with electric SUVs such as the Mahindra BE06, Maruti Suzuki eVitara, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Tata Harrier EV.
