Kia Sonet MY26 Launched With Diesel Automatic Under ₹10 Lakh
Kia has introduced the Model Year 2026 (MY26) edition for the Kia Sonet. The latest update expands the lineup by making the diesel engine available with an automatic transmission in a more accessible variant, giving buyers greater flexibility in choosing their preferred powertrain.
The Kia Sonet competes in the highly competitive sub-4-metre SUV segment. With prices starting under ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Sonet continues to remain one of the most attractive options in its category.

Kia Sonet Gets New Automatic Variants
The MY26 version of the Sonet is priced from ₹9.77 lakh and ₹9.89 lakh (ex-showroom) depending on the variant. With this update, Kia has expanded the automatic lineup by introducing new diesel automatic variants along with the turbo petrol 7-speed DCT option.
With rising traffic congestion in cities, many buyers are increasingly preferring automatic transmissions over manual gearboxes. Automatics offer better comfort, smoother drivability, and reduced driver fatigue in daily traffic conditions. Diesel engines, on the other hand, are known for better fuel efficiency in stop-and-go city traffic.

Kia has understood the consumers' preferences and made the diesel automatic variant more accessible to buyers. The 1.5-litre diesel engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission is now available in HTE (O), HTK (O), HTK+, and HTK+ (O) variants of the Sonet.
Additionally, the HTK (O) and HTK+ (O) variants are now available with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DCT transmission. Introducing automatic variants below the ₹10 lakh price point is a strategic move by Kia to attract more buyers in the segment.
