Kia Achieves Record Sales In 2025 With 3.13 Million Units Globally
Kia's global sales crossed 3,135,803 units in 2025, achieving a new annual sales record for the South Korean auto giant and a 2 per cent year-on-year growth. Along with announcing its strong sales performance, the company has also revealed its global sales targets for 2026.

South Korea-based Kia is one of the most prominent car manufacturers globally and is part of the Hyundai Motor Group. Both Kia and Hyundai operate independently but sell vehicles across multiple global markets, including India.

While Hyundai Motor is one of the leading automotive brands in India, Kia continues to maintain a strong presence with steady sales volumes and a healthy market share. As the new year begins, Kia has officially released its global sales figures for the last financial year.

In FY2025, Kia sold over 3.13 million units worldwide, setting a new sales milestone for the brand. For 2026, Kia is targeting total global sales of 3.35 million units. In its home country, Kia sold 545,776 units, achieving a 1 per cent year-on-year growth.
In overseas markets, Kia recorded sales of 2,584,238 units, representing a 2 per cent increase compared to 2024. SUVs continued to dominate Kia's global lineup, with models such as the Kia Sportage (569,688 units), Kia Seltos (299,766 units), and the Sorento (264,673) emerging as top contributors to overall sales.

For 2026, Kia is targeting 3.35 million units globally, including 2.775 million units from overseas markets and 565,000 units in South Korea. The company is also aiming to sell 10,000 units of special-purpose vehicles (SPVs) worldwide next year.
Kia faced several challenges in 2025, including varying regional market strategies, high tariffs, regulatory norms, and the global transition towards electric mobility. Despite all these challenges, the brand managed to maintain growth and improve its overall sales performance.
The company has adopted a market-specific strategy, with different products for different countries. They focused on hybrid vehicles in the US market and an EV-centric approach in European markets. Additionally, Kia plans to introduce new hybrid powertrain options for key models such as the Kia Telluride and Kia Seltos in the coming years.
