Kia Carens Clavis Gets New Lower-Spec Automatic Variants

Kia has expanded the Carens Clavis automatic line-up by adding new turbo-petrol DCT and diesel AT options for the MPV's lower-spec trims. The changes bring automatic transmission within reach of buyers on tighter budgets, with prices now starting at Rs 14.67 lakh, ex-showroom.

The HTE (O) trim (the variant that sits above the base car) of the Kia Carens Clavis can now be had with the 160hp 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, making it the cheapest automatic variant in the Carens Clavis range.

The same trim level of the Carens Clavis also gains a diesel AT option, combining a 116hp 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic, which is priced at Rs 15.82 lakh. Within the Carens Clavis HTE (O) trim, diesel prices now range from Rs 14.37 lakh to Rs 15.82 lakh, with the new automatic gearbox positioned at the top of that trim level.

The turbo-petrol DCT combination for the Kia Carens Clavis has also been extended to the HTE (EX) trim, priced at Rs 15.22 lakh, a premium of Rs 55,000 over the identically powered HTE (O). HTE (EX), which was introduced in January this year, does not get the diesel AT option.

Kia is bundling an 'Automatic Pack' with these new variants of the Carens Clavis, adding features over their manual counterparts. This includes a smart key with a motion sensor, push-button start/stop, drive modes (Eco, Normal, Sport), an electronic parking brake, and remote engine start. The wider Kia Carens Clavis petrol range spans from Rs 11.39 lakh for the base HTE trim to Rs 21.79 lakh for the GTX+ and X-Line trims.
