JSW Motors To Launch Jetour T2 SUV In India By Q3 2026
JSW Motors is preparing to enter the Indian passenger vehicle market with its first standalone SUV, marking a significant expansion of the JSW Group's automotive ambitions beyond its existing joint venture with MG Motor India. The upcoming model will be based on the Jetour T2, a globally sold SUV developed by Chery, and will form the foundation of a new JSW-branded passenger vehicle portfolio.
According to Autocar India, JSW Motors has entered into a technical partnership with Chery to bring the Jetour T2 to India. The SUV will be locally assembled at JSW's upcoming manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, with market introduction planned for Q3 2026. This will be the first product to roll out from JSW Motors' independent passenger vehicle operations.

The India-bound SUV will be derived from the Jetour T2 i-DM, which uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain. This system combines a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with either two or three electric motors in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, respectively, though JSW Motors has not yet confirmed which drivetrain layout will be introduced in India.
The Jetour T2 is built on a monocoque platform, rather than a ladder-frame chassis, despite its rugged and upright SUV styling. The design features a boxy silhouette, short overhangs, a high bonnet line and squared-off proportions, aimed at delivering strong road presence while maintaining on-road comfort and efficiency.

Dimensionally, the Jetour T2 sits above most midsize SUVs currently sold in India. With an overall length of 4.7 metres and a width of 2 metres, it offers a noticeably larger footprint than models such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Volkswagen Taigun. The size places it closer to larger premium SUVs, though it remains a monocoque vehicle rather than a body-on-frame offering.
Despite its Jetour origins, the SUV will not be sold under the Jetour brand in India. JSW Motors plans to introduce the vehicle with a new JSW-branded identity, as the company looks to establish itself as a standalone passenger vehicle manufacturer. Branding, final model name and variant structure for the Indian market are yet to be announced.

The Jetour T2-based SUV is expected to be the first of multiple products planned under the JSW Motors banner. The plug-in hybrid version will form the initial launch offering, with further powertrain options and body styles to be evaluated based on market response
