JSW-MG Motor Records Solid January 2026 Sales As Windsor EV Drives Growth
MG Motor India, backed by the JSW Group, posted 9% year-on-year growth with 4,843 units sold in January 2026. The company's luxury division, MG Select, also recorded a strong sales performance last month. Models such as the MG Hector and Windsor EV played a key role in driving MG's overall sales.

MG Motors is one of the leading manufacturers in the electric vehicle segment in India, though it is still strengthening its presence in the ICE segment. Recently, the brand launched a facelift of its popular mid-size SUV, the MG Hector, to attract more buyers.
The start of 2026 has been positive for MG, with the Hector facelift attracting new customers, while the Windsor EV continued to deliver consistent volumes. Together, these models helped the brand to witness sales growth compared to January 2025.
MG is now among the top three EV brands in India, alongside Tata Motors and Mahindra. Indian consumers continue to buy the Windsor EV, which offers strong value and advanced technology at an affordable price.
MG's premium division, MG Select, also contributed to overall sales through models such as the Cyberster and M9 MPV. The Cyberster was recently updated with a new Iris Cyan colour option, and MG claims it is the fastest car in its current lineup.
MG Motor is increasing its market share in India and is gearing up to launch the MG Majestor, a D+ segment ICE SUV positioned above the Gloster and set to rival the Toyota Fortuner. The Majestor SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine, compared to the 2.8-litre diesel engine offered in the Toyota Fortuner.
Other MG models, including the Astor SUV, ZS EV and Comet EV, also continue to contribute to the brand's overall sales. Meanwhile, JSW is reportedly looking to increase its stake in MG Motor India and plans to launch its own branded car later this year.
