Renault India Car Sales Report January 2026
The French automaker had witnessed a slowdown in India over the past few years. However, in January 2026, Renault India's sales grew significantly, largely driven by the Renault Kiger and Renault Triber. Recently, Renault introduced facelifts for both models, featuring refreshed exterior styling and updated interiors while retaining the existing powertrain options.

Commenting on the sales performance, Renault India Vice President - Sales & Marketing Francisco Hidalgo said, "We have entered 2026 with strong momentum and clear intent, marking a new beginning for Renault India. The Kiger and Triber continue to deliver solid and consistent performance, while the biggest car reveal of the Indian automotive industry, the return of the iconic Duster, has ignited consumer excitement across the country.
We are witnessing a sharp surge in enquiries at all our touchpoints, reinforcing the confidence we have been building since the second half of 2025. The Duster is back, and Renault's next chapter in India is firmly underway."
On January 26, Renault officially unveiled the new-generation Duster in India. This could also be the reason for the revival of customers' interest in the automaker. The SUV makes a comeback after a couple of years. It will directly compete against popular rivals, including the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and the Tata Sierra.

The new Duster features a completely updated exterior design, a more premium cabin, an advanced infotainment system, and enhanced safety features specifically made for the Indian consumers. The powertrain lineup includes a Turbo TCe 100 petrol, a Turbo TCe 160 mild-hybrid, and a strong hybrid E-Tech system with a 1.4 kWh battery pack, which Renault claims delivers best-in-class fuel efficiency of up to 1,000 km on a single tank.
Renault also claims the new Duster is a 5-star safety-capable vehicle, with 90% localisation of its components. Bookings for the SUV are already open, with prices expected to be announced by March 2026. Deliveries of the petrol and mild-hybrid variants are expected to begin by April 2026, while the flagship strong-hybrid version is scheduled for launch around Diwali 2026.
