Jaguar Type 01 Unveiled: 1,030hp, 720km Range, £130,000 (Rs 1.6 Crore)
British luxury carmaker Jaguar has unveiled its controversial Type 01 four-door electric grand tourer in New York, priced from £130,000 (Rs 1.66 Crore). Orders for the Jaguar Type 01 open in early 2027.
The Type 01 is the first production Jaguar built on the firm's dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA). The JEA platform is entirely different from and shares nothing with the Range Rover EV and its electric platform.

Jaguar Type 01 - Battery, Range & Performance
The Jaguar Type 01 runs an 850-volt electrical architecture with a 120kWh (118kWh usable) NMC battery pack. Jaguar claims a range of 720km on a single charge on the WLTP cycle. When connected to a 350kW DC rapid charger, the Type 01 can add 321km of range in as little as 13 minutes and can fast charge from 10-80% in 22 minute.

Powering the Jaguar Type 01 are three electric motors that push out up to 1,030hp and 1,365Nm of peak torque allowing the , and reaches 100km/h from rest in 3.2 seconds. Three electric motors produce the output, alongside rear-wheel steering and torque vectoring. Engineers benchmarked it against the XK120, E-Type and older XJ.
Jaguar Type 01 - Interior

The Jaguar Type 01 cabin carries over the central spine from the Type 00 concept, topped with a brass-like finish. It runs to the rear of the car and divides all four occupants, where most centre consoles stop behind the front seats.
The driver faces a large display. The concept's passenger screen has been dropped and replaced by a flat surface, while a slim tablet on the centre console handles temperature and media volume.

The steering wheel gets chunky spokes and a slatted lower section that mirrors the grilles at the rear of the Type 00 concept. The control stalks are integrated into a single bar behind the wheel.
Jaguar Type 01 - The Name

Jaguar is JLR's all-electric brand, while Range Rover, Defender and Discovery continue to offer a mix of combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains. The "Type" in the name references the electric Jaguar's predecessors (Type D , Type E), the 0 denotes zero tailpipe emissions and the 1 marks the first model of a new generation.
Production of the Jaguar Type 01 begins in 2027 at JLR's Solihull plant. Electric drive units and battery packs come from its battery production plant in Wolverhampton, and pressed body panels from the firm's Halewood facility in Merseyside.
