Hyundai has launched the facelifted Verna in India, which includes several first-in-segment features and updated design elements. The mid-size sedan remains one of the most popular models in the country and now arrives with refreshed styling, new technology, and enhanced equipment.

Design Changes

The car now features dual LED projector headlamps with a black chrome radiator grille, new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a bold rear bumper design, and an aerodynamic rear spoiler. Some other features include connected LED lighting elements, LED tail lamps, satin chrome window beltline, and satin chrome outside door handles.

The cabin also receives several upgrades, including dual 10.25-inch integrated displays with an infotainment system, a D-cut steering wheel, leatherette seat upholstery, a sliding front centre armrest with storage, a smart key with push-button start, metal pedals, and a leatherette-wrapped gear knob.

Safety Features

The Verna packs segment-first 7 airbags as standard, bringing maximum protection to all passengers. Additionally, it features a dashcam, electronic parking brake with auto hold, front parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, all-wheel disc brakes, TPMS, Hyundai SmartSense (Level 2 ADAS with 20+ features), hill start assist, ABS with EBD, emergency stop signal, and electronic stability control with VSM.

Powertrain & Transmission

The Verna is available with two petrol powertrains, including a 1.5L MPi petrol engine that produces 115 PS and 143.8 Nm of torque, and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine that is claimed to be the most powerful in the category. It produces class-leading 160 PS of power and 253 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission), iVT (Intelligent Variable Transmission), and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Price and Rivals

The regular MPi petrol variant is available in 9 trims, starting at ₹10.98 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-of-the-line variant is priced at ₹17.15 lakh (ex-showroom). The turbo petrol engine is available in three trims, starting at ₹16.28 lakh (ex-showroom), and the top variant is priced at ₹18.25 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Hyundai Verna continues to be one of the most feature-loaded sedans in the mid-size sedan segment. It rivals models such as the Volkswagen Virtus, Honda City, and Skoda Slavia. The sedan market in India currently has limited options, and among them, the Verna positions itself as one of the most futuristic and technology-focused cars.
