Hyundai To Hike Car Prices By Up To ₹12,800 From June 1

Hyundai Motor India will raise prices across its entire vehicle lineup from June 1, 2026, with increases of up to ₹12,800 depending on model and variant. The revision, first flagged to stock exchanges on April 8 as a planned increase of up to 1 per cent from May, has been pushed by one month as per a fresh regulatory filing dated May 27.

The company cited rising input costs, higher commodity prices, and increased operational expenses as the drivers behind the hike. Hyundai added that it had been absorbing cost pressures and was passing on only a portion of the increase, describing the revision as nominal.

Hyundai's filing states the increase will apply across its model range, though the quantum will vary by variant. The company sells vehicles from the Grand i10 Nios hatchback at the entry end to the Ioniq 5 electric SUV at the top, with the Creta, Venue, Verna, Alcazar, and Tucson occupying the middle and upper segments. No model-specific breakdowns were disclosed in the filing.

The automaker described the revision as a nominal price increase, adding that it has been continuously working to absorb cost pressures and minimise the impact on customers. The ₹12,800 ceiling represents the maximum increase across the range; actual hikes on individual variants are expected to be lower.

Price Hikes Across the Industry

Hyundai's announcement comes alongside similar moves by other major manufacturers. Maruti Suzuki India announced a price hike of up to ₹30,000 effective from June 2026, citing sustained inflationary pressures and elevated input costs after deferring the increase for several months. Mahindra and Mahindra revised prices for its SUV and commercial vehicle lineup in April.

The broader trend reflects sustained commodity inflation affecting steel, aluminium, and logistics costs across the automotive supply chain. Indian carmakers have been making incremental price corrections through 2025 and into 2026 as input cost pressure has continued to mount without a meaningful reversal in raw material prices.

Hyundai's Earlier Price Hike

This is not the first price correction from Hyundai in the current financial year cycle. The company implemented a weighted-average increase of around 0.6 per cent across its model range from January 1, 2026, at that time attributing the revision to a rise in the cost of precious metals and commodities. The June 1 hike represents a second upward adjustment within a six-month window.
