Production Loss Due To Supplier Fire
Tarun Garg, MD & CEO - Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, "In June 2026, HMIL achieved total monthly sales of 51,335 units (Domestic: 39,635 units and Exports: 11,700 units) despite facing a production loss of 13,900 units owing to a fire incident at one of the supplier's manufacturing facilities which led to a temporary disruption in production. HMIL has taken all necessary steps to ensure production normalcy including arranging automotive parts from alternate source locations. Our production operations have returned to normal across facilities since June 22, 2026. We expect to recover the loss in June production volume within Q2 of FY26- 27."
Hyundai India Q2 FY2026-27 Performance
Despite the weak June results, Hyundai's quarterly performance stayed relatively stable, helped by stronger sales in April and May. Domestic sales for the quarter improved by 5.38%, supported by steady demand for the Creta, Venue, Exter, Verna, Alcazar and Creta Electric.
Exports witnessed a sharp decline of nearly 20% during the same period. The combined effect left Hyundai's total quarterly sales lower by 1.28%.
New SUVs On The Way
Hyundai's sales are expected to get a boost in the coming quarters with multiple new SUV launches in the pipeline. The company is developing an all-new sub-4 metre electric SUV aimed at the fast-growing affordable EV segment.
Hyundai is also working on a new mid-size ICE SUV positioned between the Venue and Creta. These additions will help the brand enter fresh segments while expanding its SUV-focused portfolio in India.
