Hyundai Makes Creta Electric More Affordable; Now Available with BaaS Scheme At Rs 10.99 Lakh
Hyundai Motor India has introduced a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme for the Hyundai Creta Electric, making the electric SUV more accessible to buyers with a starting price of Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The move significantly reduces the upfront purchase cost by separating the battery cost from the vehicle price.
Hyundai Creta Electric Available with BaaS Scheme
BaaS schemes are increasingly becoming common in the EV segment as automakers look to improve affordability and attract more buyers into electric mobility. The Creta Electric rivals the upcoming Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV in India.

The Hyundai Creta has been one of the brand's most successful nameplates in India, and its electric version aims to build on that popularity. However, the Creta Electric has not seen the same level of demand as its ICE counterpart.
With the newly introduced BaaS plan, customers can now own the Creta Electric with battery usage charges starting at Rs 3.9 per kilometre, making it easier to enter the EV space. Hyundai appears to be reworking its EV strategy to boost adoption, and this move could significantly improve demand.

The company also offers a 7.4kW wall charger for home charging convenience. The Creta Electric is available with two battery pack options - 42kWh and 51.4kWh - with a claimed range of up to 510km on a full charge.
Performance remains strong, with the electric SUV capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Hyundai is also offering an 8-year/1,60,000km battery warranty. Some of its key highlights include rain-sensing wipers, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a virtual engine sound system, hill-start assist, hill descent control, TPMS, all-LED lighting, and a pixelated graphic rear bumper for a more futuristic look.

The battery supports DC fast charging, taking it from 10 to 80 percent in just 39 minutes, while also offering V2L functionality. Other Feature highlights include Active Air Flaps, Level 2 ADAS under Hyundai Smart Sense, i-Pedal single-pedal driving, and Digital Key.
Reworking Electric Segment
India's electric vehicle segment is growing rapidly, with brands like Tata Motors, MG Motor India, and Mahindra & Mahindra currently leading the market. While Hyundai Motor India remains one of the strongest players in the ICE segment, the brand is now looking to replicate that success in the EV space. The introduction of the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) scheme marks one of Hyundai's first major strategic moves to rework its EV plans and boost customer adoption in India.
