Spy Pics: Hyundai Bayon SUV Spotted Alongside Maruti Suzuki Victoris
Hyundai's i20-based Bayon SUV, internally codenamed BC4i, has been spotted testing again, this time parked right next to a Maruti Victoris. The spy images shot in Vellore and shared by Reddit user u/TraditionMindless125 on the CarsIndia subreddit offers a clearer look at how the two SUVs compare in size and stance.
The Maruti Suzuki Victoris has emerged as the second best selling SUV in the midsize segment within months of launch, trailing only the Creta. With the Bayon, Hyundai appears to be preparing a direct counter to Victoris while adding another layer of protection around the Creta's leadership of the segment.

Hyundai Bayon - Smaller Than Victoris, Bigger Than Venue
The Hyundai Bayon is based on the i20 and measures 4.1 metres in length, the same as the international spec hatchback recently launched in Brazil. The Maruti Victoris, in comparison, is a 4.3 metre SUV, making it visibly larger in person.
The test mule carries chunky wheel arches, a taller roofline and a wider rear section. Roof rails, pronounced body cladding and new alloy wheel designs add to its rugged crossover look. Front light units are expected to resemble those on the Hyundai Venue.

Hyundai Bayon VS Maruti Victoris - Powertrain Offerings
The Bayon is expected with two engine options, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol paired with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT, and a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol with a 5-speed manual. The NA unit makes 78bhp and 112.7Nm, while the turbo produces 99bhp and 171.6Nm.The Bayon is offered only with a front-wheel-drive setup.
The Victoris, meanwhile, makes a maximum of 102bhp and 139Nm but offers an AWD option, giving it an edge in capability despite the lower power figures.
The Bayon could be offered with a factory fitted CNG setup alongside the aforementioned petrol powertrains, though Hyundai has still not confirmed this. If launched with CNG, the Bayon would become Hyundai's first SUV above four metres in length to get the alternative fuel option.
A dual cylinder CNG setup could be considered, as it helps preserve boot space while improving practicality. The focus of the Bayon CNG is expected to be on efficiency and running costs rather than outright performance.
Hyundai Bayon - Expected Feature List Expected To Be Rich
The Hyundai Bayon is also expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof and a comprehensive safety package.
Higher variants of the Bayon could get ADAS features as well, continuing Hyundai's push for tech loaded products in this space. Pricing for the Bayon is expected to undercut the Creta when it eventually launches.
