Hyundai Bayon Bookings Open Ahead Of Festive Season Launch

South Korean carmaker Hyundai has officially commenced bookings for the Bayon, its upcoming midsize SUV expected to launch next month. Prospective buyers can register interest online or at their nearest dealership for a token of Rs 11,000.

The Bayon will be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai's India line-up, becoming the brand's second midsize SUV, and is set to arrive in showrooms this festive season. Hyundai is expected to price the Bayon between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom.

Hyundai Bayon: Powertrain Options

The Hyundai Bayon is expected to use the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that powers the Creta, though its exact state of tune is yet to be revealed. It will be offered with manual and CVT gearbox options.

Hyundai is also likely to offer the engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit, likely featuring an underbody tank. This would make the Bayon the first Hyundai model over four metres in length to get a CNG powertrain option.

Hyundai Bayon: Design & Features

The Bayon adopts a crossover stance rather than a boxy, upright SUV design. It gets a split-headlamp setup, with H-shaped LED daytime running lights positioned up top and the main headlamp housed within the front bumper alongside a skid plate.

When viewed from the sides, the Hyundai Bayon features a rising window line with a kink at the C-pillar, pull-type door handles, functional roof rails and flared wheel arches similar to the Exter. At the rear, a slim LED light band mirrors the front signature, topped by a prominent roof spoiler. Hyundai expects the Bayon to measure a little over four metres in length.

The Bayon's cabin will closely mirror that of the fourth-generation i20 revealed for Brazil, with twin connected screens sized at 12.3 inches each. A central dropdown panel houses the physical HVAC controls, flanked by vertical AC vents.

The steering wheel carries Hyundai's four-dot motif, and the door pads are expected to match those on the new i20. The centre screen also gets a generative AI voice assistant, though the SUV will skip Hyundai's newer Pleos Connect infotainment system
