Watch Movies From Your Car Headlights? Huawei Makes It Possible
Huawei, a leading tech giant and emerging EV manufacturer, has introduced a new technology that allows vehicles to project movies and videos through their headlamps. This advanced system supports full-colour projection and also integrates driver-assistance features, pushing the boundaries of automotive technology.
Huawei Brings Movie Projection To Car Headlamps
Chinese EV companies continue to move ahead rapidly compared to their American and European counterparts. Huawei, best known for its smartphones and connected technologies, has now showcased a breakthrough innovation that transforms traditional headlamps into multifunctional projectors.

Smart XPixel Headlamp Technology
The newly developed XPixel headlamps can project videos, movies, and animations directly onto surfaces in front of the vehicle. These projectors are designed to work when the vehicle is stationary, allowing users to enjoy outdoor entertainment such as movies or even music visualisations during events or gatherings.
In addition to entertainment, the system also enhances navigation and safety. It can project arrows, navigation cues, and guiding lines onto the road, helping drivers follow directions more easily.

Safety and Driver Assistance Integration
Beyond entertainment, the technology plays a significant role in improving safety. The headlamps can illuminate pedestrian crossings, highlight lane markings, and project speed limits in low-visibility conditions such as fog or heavy rain. This cutting-edge technology was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 and is expected to be introduced in upcoming models such as the AITO M9, Qinjing GT7, and Luxeed V9.
Huawei has also introduced advanced LiDAR sensors capable of detecting even small obstacles on the road. Combined with improved traction control systems designed for challenging conditions like snow, these innovations further enhance overall vehicle safety and driving confidence.

A Glimpse into the Future
EV technology has evolved far beyond battery capacity, driving range, and infotainment systems. Innovations like projection-based headlamps highlight how automakers are redefining the driving experience by blending technology, entertainment, and safety.
China remains the world's largest EV market, with its domestic brands leading in innovation and rapid development. Compared to many global competitors, Chinese companies are setting new benchmarks in the electric vehicle space, indicating the direction future mobility.
