Genesis Reveals Flagship GV90 EV - 590bhp Twin Motor AWD, 500km Range
South Korean luxury carmaker Genesis has revealed the GV90 as its new flagship SUV, the brand's largest and most luxurious model to date. Based closely on the 2024 Neolun concept, the production-ready Genesis GV90 EV features a dual-motor AWD setup and the biggest battery fitted to any Hyundai group model.
Genesis GV90 Powertrain
The GV90 draws power from a 123.5kWh battery, the largest fitted to any Hyundai group model, which Genesis says is good for around 500km of range based on internal testing. A 350kW DC fast charger can take the battery from 10-80 percent in 22 minutes.

The battery pack is connected to twin electric motors that produce a combined 544hp and 800Nm, making it the most powerful EV in the Hyundai group. Each motor gets its own e-LSD (limited-slip differential), a first for the Hyundai group, which Genesis says improves agility during high-speed cornering and grip on snowy, rainy or uneven roads.
The Genesis GV90 also runs multi-chamber air suspension that adjusts ride height to road conditions, along with dual-valve adaptive dampers and rear-axle steering that turns the rear wheels by up to five degrees.

A new power control system starts the GV90 as soon as the passenger pulls a door handle. Once the door shuts, the column-mounted drive selector automatically moves from the 12 o'clock to the 2 o'clock position, leaving the SUV ready for drive mode selection.
Genesis GV90 Exterior Design

The production-ready GV90 stays close to the design of the Neolun concept from 2024, retaining the signature two-line LED DRLs and Maybach-inspired wheel design. A closer look reveals larger air inlets on the front bumper finished in gloss black, replacing the concept's silver contrast elements, while the clamshell bonnet carries over largely unchanged.
The 24-inch wheels and fender-mounted LED lighting units are also shared with the concept, though conventional ORVMs replace the camera-based mirrors seen earlier. The 7-seat GV90 gets frameless door windows, while the 4-seat Neolun version does away with the B-pillar entirely to enable powered coach doors. At the rear, the GV90 is nearly identical to the concept, apart from a bumper with added chrome elements; the two-line taillights and Genesis wordmark carry over unchanged.

The GV90 is Genesis' first full-size flagship SUV, with a length that puts it close to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley Bentayga EWB.

Genesis GV90 Interior, Features & Safety

Inside, the GV90's cabin has been significantly reworked over the concept. A 23.6-inch OLED infotainment display, running Genesis' Pleos Connect software, can extend to 24.6 inches at the touch of a button when the SUV is parked. A conventional driver's display is replaced by a 25-inch head-up display, while motorised air vents and real glass switchgear replace traditional knobs on the dashboard.
The Neolun variant's front seats can rotate by 180 degrees when parked, and a 'Comfort Partition' separates the boot from the second row to insulate the cabin from noise. Other features include massage seats, a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, a panoramic glass roof with configurable transparency, and a heated windshield.

Genesis has fitted the GV90 with 12 airbags, including a roof airbag that the manufacturer claims is a first for any passenger car globally. It deploys rapidly to cover the entire roof glass in a rollover, preventing occupant ejection and reducing injuries from roof contact. The seat airbags also deploy in two stages depending on occupant posture.
The Genesis GV90 will go on sale in Korea in September, followed by a European launch in the first half of 2027. Hyundai is set to bring the Genesis brand to India in 2027 with locally assembled models, one of which could be the GV80, whose coupe-SUV version was trademarked earlier this year.
