Ferrari Amalfi Spider Showcased In Bengaluru - Priced At Rs 4.6 Crore

Days after launching the Amalfi Spider in India, Ferrari has showcased its drop-top entry-level sportscar in the Garden City, Bengaluru. The Ferrari Amalfi Spider is Maranello's entry-level convertible supercar offering and is priced at Rs 4.60 crore, ex-showroom.

The showcase followed last week's launch event in Mumbai, hosted by Navnit Motors, Ferrari's official distributor for the city. A showcase in the nation's capital, New Delhi, will happen next week, handled by Select Cars, which covers both Bengaluru and the capital.

Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Powertrain

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider uses the same 3,855cc twin-turbo V8 as the coupe. The Amalfi Spider's powerplant which redlines at 7,600rpm is the latest evolution of Ferrari's F154 engine family and it pushes out 640hp (specific output - 166hp/litre) and 760Nm of peak torque.

Compared with the Roma Spider, the Amalfi's turbocharger response was sharpened through independent control of each turbo's rotational speed and a higher maximum turbo speed of 171,000rpm with dedicated pressure sensors for each cylinder bank.

Ferrari also trimmed engine mass with lighter camshafts and a redesigned block, saving around a kilogram, and introduced a low-viscosity oil that cuts cold resistance by 30 percent. A flat-plane crankshaft, low-inertia turbines and twin-scroll exhaust routing help sharpen the throttle response of the Amalfi Spider.

Drive goes through an 8-speed dual-clutch, oil-bath gearbox first seen on the SF90 Stradale, now with a more powerful control unit for smoother shifts. A dry-sump layout and refined clutch management also improve low-speed driveability.

Ferrari redesigned the exhaust silencer of the Amalfi Spider to meet stricter noise rules without losing the V8's signature tone. The system uses a trimetallic ceramic catalyst and a proportionally controlled bypass valve that adapts the exhaust note to driving conditions.

Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Aerodynamics

Ferrari's aerodynamic target for the Amalfi Spider was to match the coupe's performance despite the fabric roof's influence on the bodywork. To help achieve this a bypass duct above the headlight of the Amalfi Spider connects the front end to the engine bay, reducing overpressure and aiding thermal control. Vortex generators and diffusers built into the front underbody boost vertical load, while fairings ahead of all four wheels cut aerodynamic resistance.

At the rear of the Amalfi Spider, a mobile wing offers three active settings: Low Drag, Medium Downforce and High Downforce. In the High Downforce setting, the wing adds up to 110kg of load at 250kph with a drag increase of under 4 per cent. The spoiler also shifts automatically to its High Downforce setting under hard braking or fast cornering.

Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Vehicle Dynamics, Electronics & Tyres

The Ferrari Amalfi Spider features a brake-by-wire system that anchors the car's dynamics, improving braking efficiency, cutting pedal travel and sharpening modulation even under ABS intervention. The related ABS Evo controller uses 6D sensor data to estimate speed and optimise brake force at each wheel.

These systems work within Ferrari's Side Slip Control 6.1 framework, which unifies steering, torque management and body motion control. An EPS-based grip estimation system, evolved from the 296 GTB, helps read tyre-to-tarmac grip 10 percent faster than before.

Five Manettino settings, from Wet to Race and ESC-Off, govern the intervention level of the F1-Trac traction control, suspension damping and electronic differential. The active rear spoiler shifts automatically to its High Downforce setting under hard braking or fast cornering.

The Amalfi Spider runs 245/35 R20 front and 285/35 R20 rear tyres on 20-inch wheels, retaining the coupe's sidewall profile for ride comfort. Pirelli, Goodyear and Bridgestone each co-developed a tyre specifically for the application.

Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Design And Features

Ferrari's design studio built the Ferrari Amalfi Spider's 2+ spider architecture to preserve the coupe's proportions and formal purity even with the roof open. The silhouette stays elegant and is instantly recognisable whether the fabric top is up or down.

Buyers can choose the soft top in four tailor-made fabric colours or two technical fabric options, including a new Tecnico Ottanio finish. The technical fabric's weave creates a shimmering effect, and with the roof open it can extend over the tonneau to blend with the rear bodywork.

Ferrari has also introduced a new Rosso Tramonto shade exclusively for the Amalfi Spider, inspired by the Amalfi Coast at dusk. It rounds out the palette that began with the Verde Costiera launched on the coupe, which was also seen on the car showcased in Bengaluru..

Inside, the Amalfi Spider carries over the coupe's dual-cockpit layout for the cabin, with the dashboard flowing into a central tunnel machined from solid aluminium. The instrument cluster and air vents are integrated into a single monolithic unit split between driver and passenger.

The 2+ seating allows the rear bench to double up as space for extra luggage or the occasional passengers. Personalisation options extend to trimming the tonneau cover, door panels and seatbacks in the same fabric used on the soft top roof.

The soft-top mechanism uses a Z-fold kinematic system engineered to be lightweight yet robust. It opens in 13.5 seconds even while driving at speeds up to 60kph, and folds down to just 220mm thick when stowed. The fully automatic fabric top incorporates a large rear window and is built from a five-layer, sandwich-assembled acoustic fabric. Ferrari says this delivers noise insulation comparable to a retractable hardtop, thanks to insulating layers of varying thickness.

A wind deflector built into the rear seat backrests reduces turbulence with the roof down, and is calibrated to a 101-degree opening angle. It can be raised at the touch of a button without stopping, and works at speeds up to 170km/h before being electronically limited. Once already open, though, it continues operating right up to the Amalfi Spider's 320km/h top speed.

Standard equipment on the Ferrari Amalfi Spider includes Ferrari's ADAS suite with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist and driver drowsiness detection. Surround-view cameras and rear cross-traffic alert are also available as options for customers.

Ferrari Amalfi Spider: Maintenance Programme

Ferrari also covers the Amalfi Spider under its seven-year Genuine Maintenance programme. Scheduled servicing runs at 20,000km or annual intervals regardless of mileage.
