Denza India Entry Confirmed - Z9 GT and D9 Expected as First Models
BYD's luxury brand Denza has officially confirmed its India entry through a social media post, with the arrival set for the coming months. The Denza India line-up is expected to begin with the Z9 GT shooting brake and the D9 MPV. Denza models will sit above BYD's range, particularly beyond the Rs 80 lakh price point.
The social post shows the brand's blue and silver hourglass-style logo with "Arriving soon" written above it. Its caption promises a "sophisticated, high-performance EV experience" for the Indian market.
Denza was founded in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and the Mercedes-Benz Group. Mercedes-Benz exited entirely by 2024, handing ownership to BYD. Denza currently sells luxury and performance EVs and plug-in hybrids across Southeast Asia, China, Australia, Europe and Latin America.
Denza Z9 GT
The Denza Z9 GT is a four-door shooting brake powered by a 122.5kWh battery and three electric motors, which together make 1,156hp and drive all four wheels. It's claimed to hit 100km/h in 2.7 seconds, with a 270km/h top speed.

WLTP range for the Denza Z9 GT is rated at 600km. Charging peaks at 1,500kW, and at that rate the battery goes from 10 to 97 percent in nine minutes. No other shooting brake is currently on sale in India.
Rear-wheel steering allows a 'crab walk' mode that moves the Denza Z9 GT sideways, along with Compass Turn 360°, a full rotation similar to the G-Turn on the Mercedes G-Class Electric. The dashboard carries three screens, and two more display feeds from the exterior cameras.
Level 2+ ADAS, full leather upholstery and a 20-speaker Devialet sound system are on the equipment list, alongside powered, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats. Pricing for the Denza Z9 GT is expected to start at around the Rs 1.2 crore (ex-showroom) pricepoint.
Denza D9

The D9 is a large luxury MPV, and the India-spec model is likely to get a 103kWh battery pack and a front-mounted motor producing 313hp and 360Nm. WLTP range stands at 520km, and it can charge at up to 200kW DC.
A 2+2+3 seating layout puts electrically adjustable captain's chairs in the second row, with heating, ventilation and massage functions. Three-zone climate control and powered thigh extenders are also on offer. A Dynaudio sound system, full leather upholstery and ambient lighting complete the equipment list for the Denza D9.
The D9 will take on the MG M9 and Toyota Vellfire. Denza India is expected to price it at around Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it between its two expected rivals.
