Dakar 2026 Stage 4 Results: Tosha Schareina & Henk Lategan Win & Claim Overall Lead
The fourth stage of Dakar 2026 saw Honda's Spanish rider Tosha Schareina take his second stage win on the trot at the world's toughest rally-raid. In the cars category, Toyota's Henk Lategan took the win in the cars category over the 417km timed special stage.
The fourth stage of Dakar 2026 saw drivers and riders head into the desert around AlUla as the coompeted in the first half of the two-stage 48 hour Marathon special. Today, the competitors covered a 495km loop around the Saudi city of AlUla, which included a 417km long timed special stage.

At the end of the day, riders and drivers gathered together in two nearby but separate bivouacs, where they will sleep the night or make repairs on their own (with the help of other riders if needed), with their support teams notallowed to help out.
Dakar 2026 Stage 4 Results: Bikes - Schareina Leads Honda 1-2-3, Takes Over At The Top
Stage 4 in the bikes category of Dakar 2026 saw Honda's Tosha Schareina lead from the front as the Spanish riderdarted off into the Saudi Arabian desert sands ad never looked back. His heroics saw him end the stage with a time of four hours, 31 minutes and 56 seconds.

Schareina led a Honda 1-2-3 on Stage 4 of Dakar 2026. His American teammate, Ricky Brabec, took second place for the second stage in a row. Brabec ended the day just six seconds off the pace set by Schareina. The final podium spot was claimed by yet another Honda rider from the US of A, with Skylar Howes ending the stage with a time of four hours, 32 minutes and six seconds.
Hero's Ross Branch took fourth place, ending the special stage on Day 4 with a time of four hours, 32 minutes and 12 seconds, ending the day just 16 seconds behind Schareina.

Defending Dakar Champion, KTM's Daniel "Chucky" Sanders, took the fifth spot, ending the timed special stage with a time of four hours, 34 minutes and 33 seconds, two minutes and 37 seconds behind the stage winner Schareina.
Hero's Chilean rider Ignacio "Nacho" Cornejo claimed the sixth spot on today's special stage. Nacho ended the day with a time of four hours, 35 minutes and nine seconds. The Chilean rider was three minutes and 13 seconds behind the time set by Honda's Schareina
In the overall standings after Stage 4, stage winner Tosha Schareina now leads Dakar 2026 in the bikes category. Schareina & his teammate Ricky Brabec have identical times of 16 hours, 45 minutes and 40 seconds after four stages, but the Spanish rider leads the overall standings thanks to the fact he ended ahead of Brabec in today's stage.
The final podium spot after Stage 4 of Dakar 2026 is KTM's Australian rider Daniel Sanders. The defending champion is currently one minute and 24 seconds behind Schareina. Fourth place in the overall standings is occupied by Prologue and Stage 1 winner, Edgar Canet. The 20-year-old Spanish rider lost more time today and now sits 11 minutes and 22 seconds behind Schareina's Honda. KTM's Luciano Benavides is in fifth place and is 13 minutes and nine seconds behind Schareina.

Ross Branch is still the highest-placed Hero rider at Dakar 2026. The rider from Botswana climbed one spot into 6th in the overall rankings. Branch is currently 13 minutes and 59 seconds behind Schreina. Nacho Cornejo, the other remaining Hero rider, is still in 8th place, and is now 22 minutes and one second behind Sanders
Dakar 2026 Stage 4 Results: Cars - Lategan Wins & Leads Overall Rankings

Stage 4 of Dakar 2025 saw Toyota Gazoo Racing's Henk Lategan (Brett Cummngs -Navigator) take the stage win, making it four manufacturers in four days of racing to have occupied the top spot (Mini, Dacia and Ford won the first three stages).
Lategan smashed the stage as he zigzagged his way across the hilly and sandy terrain to claim the stage win with a time of 04 hours 47 minutes and eight seconds after a 452km long special stage (cars drove over a different and longer course than the bikes today).

In the second spot was the familiar figure of Dacia's Nasser Al-Attiyah (Fabian Lurquin - Navigator). The five-time Dakar Rally winner ended the stage seven minutes and three seconds behind Lategan, which ultimately led to him losing the overall lead.
The Polish duo of Marek Goczal & Maciej Marton (Navigator) took the final podium spot. The privateer duo from the Energylandia Rally Team (driving Toyota Hiluxes) ended the stage 14 minutes and 15 seconds off the pace set by the factory Toyota.

Fourth place on Stage 4 was taken by another Polish Privateer duo from the Energylandia Rally team with Eryk Goczal & Szymon Gospodarczyk (Navigator), ending the day 17 minutes and 36 seconds behind Lategan.
Nine-time (consecutive) World Rally Champion Sebastien Loeb (Edouard Boulanger - Navigator) took fifth place today. The French duo crossed the finish line in their Dacia Sandrider, 17 minutes and 56 seconds behind the Toyota of Lategan.
In the overall standings for the cars category at Dakar 2026, Toyota's Henk Lategan now leads the world's toughest rally-raid with a time of 16 hours, 29 minutes and 15 seconds. Lategan's blistering drive today saw him end stage 4 with a lead of three minutes and 55 seconds over Dacia's Al-Attiyah.
Sweden's Mattias Ekstrom currently holds third place. The Swede, who was part of a Ford 1-2-3-4-5 yesterday, saw his lead at the top of the overall rankings evaporate as Lategan blistered the sands of the Saudi Arabian desert. Ekstrom now lies 13 minutes behind South Africa's Lategan after 4 stages of Dakar 2026.
Ford's Carlos Sainz still occupies 4th place in the overall rankings. However, El Matador is now 15 minutes and 54 seconds off the pace set by Lategan. Frenchman Mathieu Serrador is in 5th place in his Century Racing Factory Team CR7 and is currently 16 minutes and 53 seconds behind Lategan.
Tomorrow's stage will see Dakar 2026 head into the second half of the 48-hour marathon. Competitors will set off eastwards from their bivouacs into the Saudi Arabian desert at the first light of dawn towards the city of Hail. Competitors will cover a total of 414km, which includes a 356km long timed special stage made up mostly of sandy terrain with a few rocky bits thrown in to keep riders and drivers on their game as they will once again explore different routes to the finish line in Hail.
